Abstract: A system can include a foundation structure and a sensor. The foundation structure can have a plurality of deck panels configured to support a mattress. The plurality of deck panels can include a head panel. The plurality of deck panels can have a head, a foot, a first side, and a second side, a first edge along the head, a second edge along the foot opposite of the first edge, a third edge along the first side, and a fourth edge along the second side opposite the third edge. The sensor can be configured to detect a sound indicative of a snore. The sensor can be positioned along the third edge or fourth edge of the head panel.

Abstract: An air-conditioning control system provides an appropriate environment in accordance with a stress level of a person in a room and a use of a space in which the person stays. A deriver derives heartbeat-related parameters based on a body movement of the person. A determiner determines a stress level of the person at a current moment, based on the heartbeat-related parameters. A receiver receives a use of the space for the person. A CPU for appliance control (i) selects a heartbeat-related parameter to be changed, depending on the received use and the heartbeat-related parameters, and (ii) controls operation of the air conditioner to change the selected heartbeat-related parameter to be changed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (10) for monitoring a vital sign of a first subject (12), for example, a neonate, which is in proximity or in contact with a second subject (14), for example, a parent. The system comprises an imaging unit (16) for monitoring the first subject (12) from a distance, to obtain an imaging signal related to a first vital sign of the first subject (12), this imaging unit (16) might be, for example, a camera. The system further comprises a sensing unit (18) for obtaining a sensor signal related to a second vital sign of the second subject (14). The sensing unit (18) is arranged in proximity or at the second subject (14). The first vital sign is of the same type as the second vital sign, thus an analyzing unit (20) can be used for deriving the first vital sign of the first subject (12) from said imaging signal by taking into account said sensor signal.

Abstract: The present invention provides smart bed systems and the operating methods of the smart bed systems. The smart bed systems detect physiological data and sleeping quality with optical fibers which with strong resistance to electromagnetic interference. The smart bed systems do not require the users to wear any wearable devices. The smart bed systems also provide several functions, such as automatic night light, vibration-based alarm, anti-snoring assistance, and scenario-based appliance controls.

Abstract: A system is provided for tracking, in a distributed water infrastructure, water usage by category. The system may comprise at least one processor configured to receive from at least one sensor associated with the distributed water infrastructure signals indicative of water usage in the distributed water infrastructure. The system may, based on the signals indicative of water usage, construct a plurality of profiles. The system may assign each profile to one of a plurality of water usage categories. The system may collect, from the at least one sensor, signals indicative of water usage for substantially all water delivered through the distributed water infrastructure in a time period. The system may construct a plurality of water usage profiles in the aggregate, encompassing substantially all water delivered through the distributed water infrastructure in the time period. The system may assign each constructed water usage profile to one of the plurality of water usage categories. The system may output, for display, water usage for the time period for each of the plurality of water usage categories.

Abstract: A system is provided for monitoring water usage of a plurality of appliances in a plurality of distributed locations remote from one another. The system may comprise at least one central processor. The system may receive water usage data from the plurality of distributed locations. The system may determine, from the water usage data received from the plurality of distributed locations, a common appliance used in each of the plurality of distributed locations. The system may analyze a subset of the water usage data attributable to the common appliance to determine usage patterns associated with the common appliance across the plurality of distributed locations. The system may output usage pattern analytics associated with the common appliance.
