摘要: Systems and methods of in situ unclogging a working channel in a medical device during a procedure are disclosed. An exemplary unclogging system comprises a flow sensor to sense a flow rate through a working channel, and a control module to detect a channel state indicating a presence or absence of clogging based on the flow rate. In the presence of channel clogging, the control module can control one or more of an irrigation source or a suction source to provide respectively irrigation fluid or suction pressure to unclog the obstructed channel. The control module can adjust one or more of an irrigation flow rate or a suction flow rate through the working channel to maintain a desired pressure of the anatomical environment at the anatomical site, or to maintain a desired flow condition in the working channel, during the procedure.

摘要: Disclosed herein are systems for aspirating, irrigating, and/or mechanically disrupting body cavities, such as abdominal abscesses, empyemas, and/or (e.g., complicated) pleural effusions, and associated devices and methods. In some embodiments, an aspiration and irrigation system includes an inner catheter defining an aspiration lumen and an outer tube positioned coaxially around the inner catheter and defining an irrigation lumen. A distal portion of the outer tube can be bonded to the inner catheter, and a plurality of apertures can be formed through the outer tube proximal of the bond. The aspiration lumen can be fluidly coupled to an aspiration circuit configured to aspirate through the aspiration lumen, and the irrigation lumen can be fluidly coupled to an irrigation circuit configured to flow an irrigation fluid through the irrigation lumen and out of the apertures.

摘要: A dynamic aspiration method including engaging a distal end of an aspiration catheter against an occlusion in a blood vessel, applying a vacuum through an aspiration lumen of the aspiration catheter using a vacuum source coupled to a proximal end of the aspiration lumen by a connecting tube, whereby portions of the occlusion are drawn into the aspiration lumen, through the connecting tube and into a collection receptacle by the vacuum source, sensing flow through the connecting tube, and automatically generating pressure differentials when a clog or restricted flow is detected.

摘要: A vacuum aspiration control system for use with a vacuum source and an aspiration catheter includes a connecting tube configured to connect the vacuum source with a lumen of an aspiration catheter. An on-off valve is operatively coupled to the connecting tube, and a sensing unit is configured to detect flow within the connecting tube and provide a signal representative of flow. A controller receives the signal to decide whether to open or close the valve. The controller may automatically close the valve to stop flow when flow through the connecting tube is unrestricted, or according to a predetermined timing sequence. The controller can further periodically open a closed valve to determine whether flow has entered an acceptable range. The controller can still further engage pulsed aspiration with a pressure manipulation assembly when flow is restricted or occluded.

摘要: A laparoscopic suction/irrigation device of the disclosed invention encases a rigid inner cannula with a flexible outer cannula, the outer cannula functioning to insulate the inner cannula from unwanted electrical discharges. Upon translating the distal end of the outer cannula beyond the distal end of the inner cannula, the outer cannula returns to a preexisting curvilinear shape. This curved extension can thereafter be positioned via a proximal handle to concavities within the surgical site for precise and effective fluid retraction.

摘要: An irrigation system having attachable anti-sliding features that prevent movement of the system along a surface. The irrigation system includes a console having a front panel with an inflow pump and an outflow pump. The front panel extends to a front edge of the console and the front edge is connected to a bottom side of the console. The attachable anti-sliding features include one or more feet attached to the bottom side of the console. Each foot has an L-shaped body having a first end and a second end with a first surface and an opposing second surface both extending between the first end and the second end. A protrusion extends from the second end of the body, forming the L-shape. The one or more feet are attached to the bottom side of the console such that the protrusion extends away from the console.

摘要: A wound irrigation system includes a first fluid including an ion rich compound having free available ions; and a second fluid including an oxidation-reduction potential increasing compound, the second fluid housed separately from the first fluid. Mixing the first and second fluids in a charging area forms an ionically charged fluid with an oxidation-reduction potential higher than a wound site oxidation-potential. The ionically charged fluid increases antimicrobial activity of the wound upon application.

摘要: A system for removing an undesirable material from within a vessel is provided. The system includes a cannula designed for maneuvering within a blood vessel to a site of interest and applying a suction force, such that the undesirable material can be captured and removed along the cannula away from the site. The system also may include a catheter having a balloon at its distal end. The balloon may be designed to be positioned adjacent to the undesirable material such that the undesirable material is situated between the balloon and the cannula. The catheter may also be designed to subsequently impart a force onto the undesirable material for removal of the undesirable material. A method for removing an undesirable material from within a vessel is also provided.
