    摘要: A compaction device for compacting powder in which a compaction chamber (16) is formed by a block (1) having a conical bore (9) and a conical sleeve (2) being movable in the bore to be compressed thereby. The taper of sleeve (2) is somewhat smaller than that of the bore (9). A combined shock absorber and extractor, for the compacted powder, which comprises a movable support (4) extending into the compaction chambers (16) and being provided with an enlarged head portion (13) having passages (14). An accumulator (42) is connected to a chamber (22) of the cylinder (11) in which support (4) is movable. The accumulator (42) improves the shock absorbing characteristics.

    摘要: A machine for compacting metal powder comprises a static frame, a die having a bore, a lower punch defining a receiving die cavity in the bore, an upper punch, an upper punch downwardly movable to enter the die cavity, and a reaction frame to which the lower punch is fixed slidably mounted on the static frame, the reaction frame and the lower punch being moved upwardly by a reaction force generated when the upper punch is moved downwardly. The die is moved upwardly after the die cavity has been filled with powder a distance at least equal to the upward movement of the lower punch completed before the upper punch enters the die cavity, and the die is moved downwardly after the upper punch has entered the die cavity.

    摘要: An apparatus for bonding a particle material to near theoretical density, includes a chamber, a punch and die assembly for supporting a particle material, plungers for applying shear and/or axial pressures, and a power supply for applying a current. In the first stage, a pulsed current of about 1 to 20,000 amps., is applied to the particle material for a predetermined time period, and substantially simultaneously therewith, a shear force of about 5-50 MPa is applied. In the second stage, an axial pressure of about less than 1 to 2,000 MPa is applied to the particle material for a predetermined time period, and substantially simultaneously therewith, a steady current of about 1 to 20,000 amps. is applied. The apparatus may be used to bond metallic, ceramic, intermetallic and composite materials to near-net shape, directly from precursors or elemental particle material without the need for synthesizing the material. The method may also be applied to perform combustion synthesis of a reactive material, followed by consolidation or joining to near-net shaped articles or parts. The apparatus may further be used to repair a damaged or worn substrate or part, coat a particle onto a substrate, and grow single crystals of a particle material.

    摘要: A pressurized feed shoe for delivering particulate materials to fill a die cavity is provided. The feed shoe includes a feed shoe body including a vessel for receiving a quantity of particulate material. The feed shoe body has at least one bottom egress opening for registering with the die cavity and a top ingress opening for receiving particulate material. A pressure generator for generating supra-atmospheric pressures within the vessel and the die cavity is also provided. The pressure generator communicates with the vessel via a conduit sealingly engaged thereto. A shuttle selectively moves the feed shoe body to and from a position whereby the bottom egress opening registers with the die cavity.

A lower punch moves towards an upper punch to press the particles within the cavity. A cam disk moves the lower punch by way of a movable base-plate. Motion is transmitted through a sliding block to the base-plate and a cylinder having a piston causes movement of the die during at least a portion of the movement of the lower punch over its path of travel to the upper punch.

    摘要: A powder press with mechanical-hydraulic shuttle control including a main press shaft, a control unit mounted on the powder press for converting rotational motion into translational motion, including a first actuator assembly; a second actuator assembly in fluid communication with the first actuator assembly; a shuttle assembly disposed at one end of the second actuator assembly; and a cardan shaft for transferring rotational motion of the main press shaft to the control unit. The control unit includes first and second shafts disposed in spaced relationship to each other; first and second wheels, each mounted on a respective one of the first and second shafts; a member interconnecting the first and second wheels in rotational engagement; and an adjustable cam member mounted on the second shaft and operatively engaging the first actuator assembly such that rotation of the main press shaft rotates the cardan shaft which, in turn, is coupled to the first shaft in the control unit. Rotation of the first shaft produces a corresponding rotation of the first wheel which, through the interconnecting member rotates the second wheel and shaft. The adjustable cam member mounted on the second shaft produces a linear motion in the first actuator assembly which produces a responsive motion in the second actuator assembly.
