    摘要: A digital video signal is recorded in a first number of tracks in a standard play (SP) mode and in a second number of tracks in a long play (LP) mode, wherein each frame of the digital video signal is recorded in first and second sets of tracks in the SP mode and in only a first set of tracks in the LP mode, each track having subcode data recorded therein for locating frames during a high speed search of the record medium. The digital video signal is compressed prior to recording in both the SP and LP modes, with the compression ratio being greater in the LP mode. When the digital video signal is recorded in the SP mode, the subcode data is of a first type for recording in the first set of tracks and is of a second type for recording in the second set of tracks; whereas when the digital video signal is recorded in the LP mode, only one type of subcode data is recorded. Hence, in the SP mode, a frame of compressed digital video signals includes subcode data of both types; and in the LP mode, a frame of compressed digital video signals contains subcode data of only one type.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is an image recording apparatus for recording an image signal outputted from an image sensing device on a recording medium held in a cassette. The image recording apparatus comprises a reading device for reading information about control of the image sensing device from incident data stored in a memory device installed in the cassette, a supplying device for generating data for setting the image sensing device from the information read by the reading device and supplying the data to the image sensing device, a generating device for generating information about the control of the image sensing device based on data for setting the image sensing device and a writing device for writing the generated information into the memory device installed in the cassette. Since the generating device and the writing device are provided, the image recording apparatus can provide satisfactory ease of operation. Further, since camera setting data can be stored for each cassette, an image-sensing condition at the time that the contents of each cassette have been recorded, can be immediately set to a camera.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for encoding a digital video signal provided as a plurality of blocks of video data. The video data in block form are subjected to discrete cosine transformation to yield respective DC components and respective pluralities of AC components. The plurality of AC components are variable length encoded and, in certain embodiments, the DC components and variable-length encoded AC components of each block are arranged in a data stream so that the DC components precede the variable-length encoded AC components and relatively lower frequency variable length encoded AC components precede relatively higher frequency ones thereof. Error correction codes for the transformed data also are supplied. In certain embodiments of the invention, the transformed video data are arranged as a sequence of fixed length symbols so that the beginning of each of a plurality of blocks of transformed data corresponds with the beginning of a respective symbol within the sequence. In addition, an address indicating the position of a subsequent block is included within the sequence in association with a preceding block.

    摘要: A digital image signal is encoded for recording by placing in a sync block approximately an integer number of macro blocks representing orthogonally transformed image data for a certain portion of the image. When a sync block is reproduced at high speed, the reproduced data therein corresponds to a displayable portion of the image including DC components and both low and high frequency AC components. Also, each sync block contains fixed length areas for the orthogonal transform coefficient data according to the 4:1:1 (or 4:2:0) format in which four blocks of luminance coefficients and two blocks of color difference coefficients represent a certain portion of an image, and also contains at least one fixed length overflow area for the high frequency coefficients which exceed the capacity of the fixed length coefficient areas. An error in the low frequency coefficients in the fixed length areas does not harm the high frequency coefficients since they are in separately addressed areas. Before a set of macro blocks is compressed into variable length encoded data, with the amount of encoded data for each set being kept within a target value so as to fit into fixed length recording tracks, the macro blocks are shuffled so that the central portions of an image are at the beginning of the set for reducing the noticeability of errors in a reproduced image.
