Abstract: A method for positioning an optical fiber having an end portion within an alignment groove of an alignment device includes orienting the optical fiber in the alignment groove of the alignment device; causing the optical fiber to elastically flex; using an interference point to assist in forming a curved profile of the flexed fiber, and using inherent elasticity of the flexed optical fiber to assist in retaining the end portion of the optical fiber in contact with the alignment groove. A connection system includes a connector, alignment device, and adapter, with an interference point on at least one of the connector, alignment device, or adapter.

Abstract: A fixture assembly for use with fine wire laser soldering. The fixture includes a holding and support fixture and a wire securing and tensioning fixture. The holding and support fixture has a wire holding member and a retention member. The wire holding member and the retention member cooperate with wires prior to the wires being soldered. The wire securing fixture has wire tensioning projections and wire retention members. The wire tensioning projections and wire retention members cooperate with the wires to provide tension to the wire prior to the wires being soldered.

Abstract: An electrical terminal includes a crimp barrel having an interior side and an exterior side. The interior side of the crimp barrel defines a channel that extends along a longitudinal axis. The crimp barrel is configured to mechanically hold and electrically connect to one or more electrical conductors of an electrical device received in the channel. The crimp barrel includes multiple primary serrations spaced apart along the longitudinal axis. The primary serrations are groove-shaped recesses formed along the interior side. Adjacent primary serrations are separated from one another by a band. The crimp barrel further includes at least one micro-serration on the band. Each micro-serration is a groove-shaped recess formed along the interior side that has a smaller size relative to the primary serrations.

Abstract: A cable backplane system includes cable backplanes each including a tray configured to be coupled to a chassis and a plurality of cable connector assemblies mounted to the tray. The tray has a plate extending between a front and a rear with mounting locations receiving corresponding cable connector assemblies. The trays are oriented parallel to each other with front openings between the fronts of the plates and rear openings between the rears of the plates. Each cable connector assembly has a housing holding contacts terminated to corresponding cables. Each cable connector assembly has a holder mounted to the corresponding mounting location of the plate. The holder is mounted to the plate and removable from the plate through the rear opening at the rear of the plate.

Abstract: A terminal crimping device includes crimp tooling and a seal depressor fixed to the crimp tooling. The crimp tooling and the seal depressor move with a movable ram along a crimp stroke towards and away from a base that receives a wire assembly and a terminal thereon. The crimp tooling crimps the terminal to both a wire and a compression seal of the wire assembly during the crimp stroke. The seal depressor has a contact tab that engages and at least partially depresses the compression seal of the wire assembly during the crimp stroke to hold the compression seal in place as the crimp tooling crimps the terminal to the wire assembly.

Abstract: Sensor package is provided that includes a package housing defining a receiving cavity and having a package side. The package side includes a detector opening therethrough. The sensor package also includes a sensor module held by the package housing and disposed within the receiving cavity. The sensor module has a sensor side that is aligned with the detector opening such that the sensor side is exposed to a detection space. The contact finger is engaged to the conductive pathway and exerts a normal force against the conductive pathway.

Abstract: Linking cable connector includes a lead frame held in an interior cavity of a cover. The lead frame includes conductive leads arranged side by side in a row and extending between a first end and an opposite second end of the lead frame. At least some adjacent conductive leads are spaced on a first lead pitch at the first end, and are spaced on a second lead pitch at the second end. The second lead pitch is less than the first lead pitch.
