    Abstract: A diaphragm for an audio speaker includes an outer shell and an inner shell. Each shell has a face portion and an edge portion that is formed to be substantially perpendicular to the face portion. The inner shell is inserted into the outer shell such that at least a part of the edge portion of each shell is in contact with at least a part of the edge portion of the other shell and a space is formed between the face portions of each shell. A cellular core fills the space formed between the face portions of each shell and is bonded to the face portion of each shell. The outer and inner shells may have identical sizes and shapes such that there is an interference fit between the contacting edge portions. A voice coil may be supported by the edge portions.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing the effects of stray magnetic flux are provided. For example, an electronic device can employ the system and can include a first audio component configured to have a first acoustic phase and a first magnetic phase. The electronic device can also include a second audio component configured to have the first acoustic phase and a second magnetic phase that is opposite the first magnetic phase. The first audio component can be positioned with respect to the second audio component, such that any stray magnetic flux from the first audio component enters the second audio component during operation of the first and second audio components.

    Abstract: An electronic device has an acoustic transducer with an acoustic diaphragm. The diaphragm has opposed first and second major surfaces. A front volume is positioned adjacent the first major surface. A back volume is positioned adjacent the second major surface. An elongated channel defines a barometric vent and extends from a first end fluidly coupled with the front volume to a second end fluidly coupled with the back volume, fluidly coupling the front volume with the back volume. The elongated channel may have a high aspect ratio (L/D), providing the vent with a substantial air mass. The elongated channel may be segmented to define a higher-order filter. For example, a segmented channel can have a cascade of repeating acoustic-mass and acoustic-compliance units, providing the barometric vent with additional degrees-of-freedom for tuning.
