Abstract:
The present invention relates to injectors, such as pen-type injectors, that provide for administration of medicinal products from a multidose-cartridge and permit a user to set the delivery dose. The injector may include a housing, a piston rod adapted to operate through the housing, a dose dial sleeve located between the housing and the piston rod, and a drive sleeve located between the dose dial sleeve and the piston rod. The dose dial sleeve may have a helical thread of first lead and the drive sleeve may have a helical groove of second lead. The first lead of the helical thread and the second lead of the helical groove may be the same.
Abstract:
A solid dose for insertion into the skin of a patient wherein the solid dose has a hollow core. There is also provided a solid dose carrier, a device, a method of manufacturing the solid dose and a method of delivering a solid dose transdermally to a human or animal.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to an injector device for delivering an ophthalmic solution to a cornea of an eye. The device may include a base configured to contact part of the eye, and a needle connected to the base, wherein needle may deliver the ophthalmic solution to the cornea.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an injection supporting device for a syringe. The syringe comprises a cartridge for a medicament and may comprise an injection needle extending in a z-direction from the cartridge to dispense the contents of the cartridge. Alternatively the injection needle may be part of the injection supporting device itself. The injection supporting device comprises a housing to receive at least a part of the cartridge, a needle shield and a resilient member coupled to the needle shield and the housing. The needle shield comprises a distal portion and a proximal portion, a distal opening in a front end of the distal portion and a needle guide for guiding the injection needle towards the distal opening. The needle shield is slidably attached to the housing and slidable relative to the housing along the z-direction between a guarding position covering a tip of the injection needle and an injection position in which a front end portion of the injection needle extends through the distal opening of the needle shield. The resilient member urges the needle shield towards the guarding position.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for blocking needle tracts are disclosed. In some embodiments, the needle tracts are blocked by using a needle that includes an elongated shaft that defines an outer surface, and a polymer coating applied to the outer surface of the shaft, the coating being adapted to block the tract formed by insertion of the needle into an object.
Abstract:
A drug mixing system including at least one receptacle port adaptor adapted to be inserted into a port of a fluid receptacle, at least one syringe adaptor adapted to be attached to a syringe and to the at least one receptacle port adaptor and at least one vial adaptor adapted for connection to a vial containing a drug and adapted for connection to the at least one syringe adaptor, the system being characterized in that at least one of the receptacle port adaptor, the at least one syringe adaptor and the at least one vial adaptor being vented to the atmosphere in a manner which prevents release to the atmosphere of possibly harmful contents of the vial in a liquid, solid or gaseous form.
Abstract:
A method to make a PTFE skived film capable of exhibiting, with a single layer, sliding properties, barrier properties with regard to a liquid contact surface, and excellent tear resistance during injection molding. This skived film is obtained by cutting a polytetrafluoroethylene block or a modified polytetrafluoroethylene block subjected to a thermal fusion treatment under reduced pressure or subjected to a pressurized thermal fusion treatment after being subjected to fusion under reduced pressure.
Abstract:
A blunted safety needle is provided, which includes a hollow needle having a sharp distal tip and a stylus having a blunted end. The stylus is positioned within at least a portion of the needle. After the needle is used to deliver or deploy a substance and/or a device, the blunted end of the stylus is positioned to extend through the sharp distal tip of the needle and un-releaseably lock into position, thereby providing a blunted safety needle assembly.
Abstract:
A microneedle injection apparatus comprising a dual cover. The apparatus can include a housing having a base and a cavity; a microneedle array comprising a first side comprising a plurality of microneedles; and a microneedle array holder configured to hold a microneedle array and located in the housing. The microneedle array holder can be movable between a retracted position, and an extended position. The apparatus can further include a cover (113) configured to be positioned to cover the opening (115) in the base (112) of the housing. The cover can include (i) a first portion (140) configured to cover at least a portion of the base of the housing adjacent the opening, and (ii) a second portion (142) configured to be received in the cavity of the housing and further configured to cover the plurality of microneedles on the microneedle array when the microneedle array holder is in the retracted position.
Abstract:
Smart sensors are employed to determine one or more of drug identification, dose, flow rate, concentration, agglomeration, and degradation and/or other characteristics of drug administration that can be detected via sensing technology. A smart sensor(s) can be coupled to or retrofitted onto injection pen injectors and/or drug delivery cartridges and/or infusion sets or cannulae, enabling infusion sets, pen injector systems or drug delivery cartridges to improve tracking of drug self-administration and stop medication errors that occur primarily through self or automated injection (e.g., due to incorrect or incomplete dosing, excessive dose or rate, incorrect drug, or drug degradation).
