    摘要: The invention is directed to a process for the laser welding of two filter half-trays made of plastic and used in automatic transmission oil filters, wherein two filter half-trays are placed one on top of the other and welded along their common edge using laser light, one filter half-tray consisting of laser light-permeable plastic and the other filter half-tray of laser light-impermeable plastic, and the laser beam is passed through the laser light-permeable filter half-tray along the position of contact with the other filter half-tray, striking the laser light-impermeable filter half-tray, and co-fusing of the two filter half-trays within the welding zone is achieved by light absorption of the laser light-impermeable plastic material.

    摘要: A novel method and apparatus are provided for making an improved welded joint between overlapping lengths of thermoplastic strap. The welded joint includes a central region and an adjacent peripheral region. The pressure on the strap joint during formation is released first in the peripheral region and subsequently in the central region. An embodiment of the apparatus for making such a joint includes an anvil, a central strap-engaging member, a peripheral strap engaging member, and a mechanism for moving the anvil sequentially to three positions. At a first position the overlapping strap lengths are pressed between the anvil and both the central and peripheral strap-engaging members. In the second position of the anvil the peripheral strap-engaging member does not press against the strap lengths while the central strap-engaging member continues to press the strap lengths against the anvil. In the third position of the anvil, the anvil and strap-engaging members are sufficiently spaced apart to release all of the pressure on the strap lengths.

    摘要: A novel method and apparatus are provided for making an improved welded joint between overlapping lengths of thermoplastic strap. The welded joint includes a central region and an adjacent peripheral region.     摘要: An electromagnetically actuated friction welder produces orbital motion at interfaces between parts (usually of thermoplastic material) to bond the parts by fusion generated by friction. This welder can also be operated alternatively to produce reciprocating vibratory forces thereby providing flexibility as to the selection of an orbital or reciprocating mode, depending upon the joint to be welded. The velocity of motion is controllable preferably around the resonant frequency of the driven structure by adjusting the frequency of the AC power which operates the electromagnetic drive motor of the welder. A plate which carries one of the parts to be welded and which is driven is flexurally mounted for movement in an orbital plane or planes containing the interfaces without substantial tilting by an array of stiff members, such as rods, located around the drive motor, attached to the plate at one end and to a tubular structure at the opposite ends thereof. The tubular structure is desirably attached to a massive support carried by the frame of the welder.

    摘要: A friction welding apparatus for welding a pair of members in which the welding surfaces of the members are contacted under pressure with each other, relative circular orbit motion of the members producing friction therebetween thereby heating and melting the welding surfaces and the relative circular orbit motion being stopped to locate the welding surfaces in a predetermined position. The apparatus comprises an eccentric device including a rotary driving shaft, an inertia member disposed around the periphery of the rotary driving shaft, the inertia member being rotated by the rotary driving shaft and being capable of subjecting an angular movement relative thereto and an eccentric shaft rotated by the rotary driving shaft and engaged with the inertia member so as to be moved by the relative angular movement of the inertia member relative to the rotary driving shaft between a co-axial position with the axis of the rotary driving shaft and an eccentric position spaced by a predetermined distance apart therefrom, a movable table engaged through a bearing with the eccentric shaft for supporting the member to be welded, the movable table being connected by a motion restricting device to a fixed frame to be capable of causing substantial relative circular orbit motion in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the rotary driving shaft, the inertia member being angularly moved by rapid increase in the speed of the rotary driving shaft relative thereto from a first position to a second position such that the eccentric shaft is moved from the co-axial position to the eccentric position and the movable table is put in the relative circular orbit motion, and the inertia member being returned by rapid stoppage of the rotary driving shaft from the second position to the first position such that the eccentric shaft is returned to the co-axial position and the movable table is stopped at the predetermined position.
