Abstract: Customize safe speeds for vehicles are determined from information that is collected from multiple trips and multiple drivers across many road segments. The information collected includes the speed traveled along the road segment, possibly along with additional information, such as (for example) driver, time of day, day of week, weather and road conditions, angle of the sun or other factors. Given information from a new trip, the driver's speed can be compared on each road segment with relevant data from previous trips (from e.g., similar roads, weather conditions, drivers). The comparison yields a score representing the safety of the driver's speed.

Abstract: Information generated by human behavior detection sensors (i.e., cameras, microphones, pressure sensors, wearables), and vehicle operational parameter information train a machine learning model to determine a driver's emotional state based on vehicle operational parameter information. The training information may be transmitted by a wireless device for each of a fleet of vehicles and their human driver during a training period. A vehicle driven after the training period may provide vehicle information, vehicle location information, VIN, vehicle operational parameter information, or driver emotional state parameter information to a central computer that may compare the received information to either the trained machine learning model or criteria generated as a result of training the model, to determine whether the first driver, or a second driver of a vehicle proximate the first driver's vehicle, is driving erratically or in an elevated emotional state, and alert the other driver if such a determination is made.

Abstract: A context-aware voice guidance method is provided that interacts with other voice services of a user device. The voice guidance does not provide audible guidance while the user is making a verbal request to any of the voice-activated services. Instead, the voice guidance transcribes its output on the screen while the verbal requests from the user are received. In some embodiments, the voice guidance only provides a short warning sound to get the user's attention while the user is speaking on a phone call or another voice-activated service is providing audible response to the user's inquires. The voice guidance in some embodiments distinguishes between music that can be ducked and spoken words, for example from an audiobook, that the user wants to pause instead of being skipped. The voice guidance ducks music but pauses spoken words of an audio book in order to provide voice guidance to the user.

Abstract: An obstacle-information-managing device determines, with high precision, the presence of an obstacle around a vehicle. The obstacle-information-managing device includes an obstacle-information-acquiring unit, an obstacle-detection-possibility-information-acquiring unit, and an obstacle-presence-determining unit. The obstacle-information-acquiring unit acquires obstacle information pertaining to an obstacle around each of a plurality of vehicles including a host vehicle, the obstacle being detected using environment sensors mounted on the vehicles. The obstacle-detection-possibility-information-acquiring unit acquires obstacle detection possibility information pertaining to the possibility, when at least one obstacle is detected using the environment sensor(s) mounted on at least one of the vehicles and at least one obstacle is not detected using the environment sensor(s) mounted on the remaining vehicle(s), of at least one of the obstacles being detected using the environment sensor(s) mounted on the remaining vehicle(s). The obstacle-presence-determining unit determines the presence of at least one obstacle based on the obstacle-detection-possibility information and the obstacle information.
