摘要： The invention relates to the preparation of a rubber composition containing a pre-treated precipitated silica and a tire having a component comprised of such rubber composition. The pre-treated silica is a precipitated silica having been pre-treated with a silica coupling agent comprised of an alkoxyorganomercaptosilane to form a precipitated silica/coupling agent composite prior to its blending with a rubber composition. The rubber composition preparation involves reacting said pretreated silica/coupling agent composite with a combination of bis(3-triethoxysilylpropyl)polysulfides in situ within the rubber composition.

摘要： A pneumatic tire assembly includes: a tire having a pneumatic cavity; a rigid structure for facilitating operation of the tire assembly, the rigid structure being bonded to the tire by a layered thermoplastic material such that a stiffness gradient is created between the structure and the tire; first and second sidewalls extending respectively from first and second tire bead regions to a tire tread region, the first sidewall having at least one bending region operatively bending when radially within a rolling tire footprint; and a sidewall groove defined by groove walls positioned within the bending region of the first tire sidewall, the sidewall groove deforming segment by segment between a non-deformed state and a deformed, constricted state in response to bending of the bending region of the first sidewall while radially within the rolling tire footprint.

By the addition of the diene monomer or the live anionic polymer to form the associated extended diene-based polymer, it is contemplated that the modified carbon black is rendered more compatible with diene-based elastomers. Such modified carbon black may be used, for example, as reinforcement for component(s) of various articles of manufacture, including tires. Accordingly, an article of manufacture is provided, such as for example a tire, having at least one component of a rubber composition which contains such modified carbon black.
