Abstract:
A method of coating a wooden engineered board stock substrate or surface comprising the steps of depositing a layer of a radiation curable, including UV curable, polymer-forming composition, in an uncured form to at least one surface of a wooden engineered board stock substrate; and curing said polymer with an amount of energy sufficient to polymerize the composition. The method, optionally, comprises the further steps of: scuffing the surface of the cured polymer; depositing a second layer of ultraviolet light curable polymer-forming composition, in an uncured form to the scuffed surface; and curing the second layer. The method also contemplates the further step of scuffing the surface of the cured polymer; and then depositing a top coat thereon.
Abstract:
A pigment formulation and it method of application to multi-filamentous net or mesh to generate an image that is visible from only one side is provided. The pigment formulation may comprise of either a paint or an ink composition, which is applied manually onto multi-filamentous nets or mesh.
Abstract:
Provided is a coating apparatus for coating with coating liquid a surface of a strip-shaped body carried in a fixed direction includes, a primary bar extending along a width direction of a carrying plane, which is a carrying path of the strip-shaped body, a secondary bar extending in parallel with and on the downstream side of the primary bar, and a between-bars liquid reservoir disposed between the primary and secondary bars for storing the coating liquid therein at the time of coating. Conditions are set so that relationship W2
Abstract:
An improved film coater which utilizes one or more coater or applicators to transfer coating to the outer surfaces of at least one more rolls, which in turn transfers the coating from the roll surface to one or more sides of the web for coating paper is disclosed. The coater or applicator includes a smoothing doctor on the web and downstream of the one or more rolls, and may also utilize humidity from one of steam showers or a humidity enclosure to assist smoothing. The web may run in any direction, but preferably runs upwardly from the roll toward the doctor to reduce nullfilm splitnull droplets effect. The present invention also reduces the fiber rise and arrange peel pattern on the coated web, resulting in a smooth uniform coated paper.
Abstract:
A resin coated carrier fabrication method and the related apparatus in which a metered material feeder is controlled to apply a bonding agent to the periphery of a continuously rotated material-transferring cylinder subject to a predetermined thickness and simultaneously a tape of carrier is extended over an impression cylinder, and then a driving mechanism is controlled to adjust the gap between the material-transferring cylinder and the impression cylinder for enabling the bonding agent to be transferred to the tape of carrier, leaving a blank area around the applied layer of bonding agent on the tape of carrier.
Abstract:
A device for coating a developing liquid included in an developing device of the present invention includes a coating member rotatable with the developing liquid deposited thereon in a preselected amount. An intermediate member has a surface contacting the surface of the coating member and is movable at the same speed and in the same direction as the surface of the coating member. Also, the surface of the intermediate member contacts the surface of a developing roller to be coated with the developing liquid and is movable in the opposite direction to the surface of the developing roller.
Abstract:
An offset print apparatus for applying a substance to a web is provided. The offset print apparatus has a transfer roll that is capable of being rotated. An ink jet printer is present and has a print head that is located proximate to the transfer roll. The print head has a plurality of orifices from which the substance is dispensed onto the transfer roll. The distance between the surface of the print head and the transfer roll is defined as a throw distance. A web is present and contacts the transfer roll. The substance is dispensed onto the transfer roll and is transferred to the web through contact of the transfer roll and the web. The web has an amount of dust laden boundary air that is formed proximate to the web when the web is moving. The print head of the ink jet printer is not in contact with the boundary air.
Abstract:
An art and craft tool for spreading pigment from a naturally pigmented solid material to onto a workpiece surface, comprising a tool frame; a base surface on the tool frame; a material holder projecting outwardly of the base surface and configured to releasably mechanically secure a naturally pigmented solid material adjacent to the base surface, against slippage with respect to said base surface; wherein such naturally pigmented solid material secured by the holder may be pressed against a workpiece and rubbed such that pigment from the material is pressed by the base surface against the workpiece and pigment from the pigmented material is deposited onto the workpiece.
Abstract:
A coating material has a first layer deposited on a base material and a second layer deposited on the first layer. The first layer is made of a Ni-base alloy or a Co-base alloy containing carbon as an unavoidable impurity. The second layer is made of a hard material containing carbide and a metal component. The first layer serves as a barrier for preventing carbon from being diffused from the second layer into the base material to prevent the base material from being carburized.
Abstract:
A device for impregnating a paper web with a molten polymer to produce a paper with improved resistance to oil and grease are provided. The device includes, as part of an on-machine process, an ordinary paper web composed of cellulose or synthetic fibers, a polymer applicator, a hot reel, and a winding reel. The web, which is created through a series of processes located upstream of the subject invention, first encounters the polymer applicator, which deposits a quantity of molten polymer onto the surface of the web. The web is next transferred to a hot reel, which maintains the temperature of the molten polymer above its melting point and thereby facilitates wicking of the molten polymer into the web. After the web passes the hot reel, it is wound onto a winding reel, where additional wicking occurs until the molten polymer cools to a temperature below its melting point. The invention further includes a method for impregnating a web of fibers and a polymer impregnated paper with improved resistance to oil and grease, produced by the described method.
