Abstract:
A heat dissipating apparatus (10) includes a plurality of fins (20) stacked together along a predetermined direction, and a plurality of projection members (23) extending from each fin. Each of the fins includes a main body (22). The main bodies of two adjacent fins define an air passage (29) therebetween. The projection members of a first fin abut against the main body of a second fin, for dividing the air passage into a plurality of small air channels.
Abstract:
An energy status indicator for a portable device includes an alert device, an activation sensor, an energy status indicator, an alert triggering device and an alert database that includes alert data. The activation sensor is for detecting if the portable device is activated and the energy status indicator is used for determining a level of remaining energy in an energy storage. The alert triggering device includes coded program which is for outputting alert data corresponding to the level of remaining energy through the alert device, after the portable device's activation. The energy status indicator gives a user control over when the energy status is to be output and also to the type of alert that is to be output (e.g. sound, vibration, etc.). Additionally, it allows the user to determine the energy status when visual inspection of the portable device is not possible.
Abstract:
Improved systems and methods for call and call feature setup, administration and processing on PSTN and other telecommunications networks are provided. Calls are set up on a service plane of a conceptual switch that includes a switch plane, control plane, and service plane that are analogous to the OSI layered model of networks including a physical layer, network layer and application layer. Call set-up logic is separated from the switching fabric, allowing for flexible, on-demand, modification of service options using software while maintaining the same switching fabric in hardware. Call set-up is accomplished by a call request made upon connection of a call to the switch. This causes a call agent to search an eXtensible Markup Language knowledge base to find a web page corresponding to the initiating caller. The Web page may be collocated with the switch or on a LAN with the switch or on the “Web,” even on the caller's termination equipment (telephone).
Abstract:
A multiple-CCFL parallel driving circuit and the associated current balancing control method for LCD are presented, wherein the circuit comprises a plurality of CCFLs for providing the backlight for a LCD; a boosting transformer with a plurality of outputs for providing the driving voltage and current for driving the plurality CCFLs; a plurality of ballast capacitors, the ballast capacitors connect between the boosting transformer and the CCFLs; and a multiple CCFL current balancing circuit. This invention uses a low cost current mirror circuit to equalize the driving current of a plurality of CCFLs and thus significantly improve the uniformity of the displayed image on a large-size LCD.
Abstract:
In a method for predicting failure of a disc drive during operation of the disc drive, a write fault count is maintained that corresponds to write faults encountered during write operations to a disc of the disc drive. Additionally, a frequency domain representation of a position error signal of a head of the disc drive is obtained. Finally, failure of the disc drive is predicted based on the write fault count and the frequency domain representation of the position error signal. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a disc drive that is capable of performing the above-described method.
Abstract:
A method for making a package substrate without etching metal layer on side walls of a die-cavity is disclosed. At least a through slot is formed around a defined die-cavity region of a substrate so as to form a die-cavity portion in the die-cavity region. The through slot has side walls without cutting off the die-cavity portion. A metal layer is formed on the side walls inside the through slot. A dry film is attached on the substrate and the die-cavity portion so as to seal the side walls of the through slot. The metal layer on the side walls is reserved during etching. A die-cavity with metalized side walls is formed after removing the die-cavity portion.

The present invention also relates to the application of drug(s) or peptide(s), compound or gene delivery, DNA or RNA(i), cosmetic or therapeutic use of the compositions and kits.
Abstract:
A first port and cable having a first power line and a first data line connects to a host computer, a second port and cable having a second data line connects to a data port of a mobile device, and a third port and cable with a third power line connects to power port of the mobile device. The first data line and second data line are connected through a data converter installed in a housing for converting first format data on the first data line to second format data on the second data line. The first port can be integral with the housing, omitting the first cable. The second cable and third cable can be removable from the housing via connectors to facilitate customizability.
Abstract:
An embedded system program code reduction method and system is proposed, which is designed for use to scale down the total amount of program code that is to be burned into an embedded system for the purpose of reducing the embedded system's memory requirement and thereby increasing the embedded system's performance. The proposed method and system is characterized by that the program code loaded into the embedded system only includes bytecode-based application programs (rather than source code based application programs), those essential objects that are required by these application programs during runtime, and the runtime environment from the virtual machine, while excluding the complier of the virtual machine. This feature allows the embedded system to have a reduced memory requirement and a higher system performance.
Abstract:
A parallel inverter system includes a plurality of inverters of an instantaneous voltage control type, an output bus, an active power bus, a phase bus, and controlling devices. The output bus is used for connecting outputs of said plurality of inverters to a load. The active power bus is connected to the plurality of inverters so as to provide an active power sharing reference. The phase bus is connected to the plurality of inverters so as to provide a system phase reference. And, controlling devices control sinusoidal wave references of inverters to have the same phase, the reactive power, and the active power responsive to the active power sharing reference and the system phase reference. The related methods are also discussed.
