Abstract: The positive electrode substrate exposed portions or the negative electrode substrate exposed portions, or both, of an electrode assembly is split into two groups, and therebetween is disposed an intermediate member made of a resin material and holding one or more connecting conductive members. Collector members for the substrate exposed portions split into two groups is electrically joined by a resistance welding method to the substrate exposed portions split into two groups, together with the connecting conductive member(s) of the intermediate member. The resin material portion of the intermediate member protrudes, in the extension direction of the substrate exposed portions split into two groups, beyond the ends of the substrate exposed portions split into two groups and the ends of the collector member to a prismatic outer can. This structure enables enhanced resistance between the substrate exposed portions and the collector member and curbs variation in the welding strength.

Abstract: A prismatic secondary battery of one configuration has a current disconnection mechanism, and a distance from a first conductive member to a second conductive member along a surface of a first insulation member and passing an outer periphery of the first insulation member is greater than or equal to 2.4 mm. At least one of the first insulation member and a second insulation member is formed from a material having a weight reduction percentage of 100% in thermo gravimetric measurement under conditions of a measurement temperature of 25° C.-600° C., a temperature increase rate of 5° C.±0.5° C./min, a measurement atmosphere of inert gas flow, and an amount of measurement sample of 10 mg±5 mg.

Abstract: A prismatic secondary battery in which a deformation plate becoming deformed when a pressure inside the battery becomes equivalent to or higher than a predetermined value is disposed in a conductive path between a positive electrode plate and a positive electrode terminal, a positive electrode collector connected to the positive electrode plate includes a collector body portion, a collector connection, and a lead portion, the end portion of the lead portion on one end portion side of the sealing plate in the longitudinal direction is positioned on the one end portion side of the sealing plate in the longitudinal direction with respect to an end portion of the collector body portion on the one end portion side of the sealing plate in the longitudinal direction, the collector body portion is connected to the deformation plate, and the lead portion is connected to a positive lead portion.

Abstract: A prismatic secondary battery includes a prismatic hollow outer body having a mouth and a bottom; a flat electrode assembly, a positive electrode collector, a negative electrode collector, and an electrolyte, all of which are stored in the prismatic outer body; a sealing plate sealing up the mouth of the prismatic outer body; and a positive electrode terminal attached to the sealing plate in an electrically insulated manner. The sealing plate includes a gas release valve and an electrolyte pour hole and further includes, on the front face, a concaved flat face having an identification code. With the prismatic secondary battery of the invention, a jig for assembly or the like is unlikely to come into contact with the identification code during an assembly process of the prismatic secondary battery, hence the identification code is unlikely to be abraded, and the traceability is unlikely to be lost.

Abstract: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode plate including a positive electrode core and a positive electrode mixture layer formed thereon; a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode core and a negative electrode mixture layer formed thereon; a wound electrode assembly in which the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate are wound with a separator therebetween so as to be insulated from each other; a nonaqueous electrolyte solution; a pressure-responsive current interruption mechanism electrically connected to at least one of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate; and an outer casing. Excess electrolyte solution is present outside the electrode assembly in the outer casing. The liquid level of the excess electrolyte solution is at such a height that the excess electrolyte solution does not come into contact with a component of the current interruption mechanism when the outer casing is placed horizontally.

Abstract: A highly reliable prismatic secondary battery with a current interruption mechanism that is unlikely to be damaged even if the battery is subjected to shock due to vibration, falling, etc. A second insulating member that has a through-hole is disposed between an inversion plate and the first region of a positive electrode collector, and through the through-hole the first region of the positive electrode collector is electrically connected to the inversion plat. First to third projections to formed around the through-hole formed in the second insulating member fit respectively into first to third openings formed in the first region of the positive electrode collector, and the diameters of their apexes are widened, thus forming first to third fixing portions. Thereby, the second insulating member is robustly joined to the first region of the positive electrode collector.
