    摘要: Multiply charged ions are trapped and accumulated in a spatially limited region before being injected into an ion trap mass spectrometer such as a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer (FTICR MS). In the ion trap electron capture dissociation (ECD) and vibrational excitation dissociation are sequentially applied on ions of the same ion ensemble. The first dissociation process does not fragment all primary ions. Following the detection of the dissociation products, the primary ions that remain undissociated undergo the vibrational excitation and again, a part of them dissociate, and the fragments are detected. Thus, the same ion ensemble is used for two fragmentation processes. During these processes, further ions generated in the external ion source are accumulated in the spatially limited region for subsequent analyses.

    摘要: A liquid droplet dispenser generates very small droplets of regular size and high velocity by means of shock waves in a liquid-filled capillary. The droplets are ejected from an ejection capillary. The ejection capillary is surrounded by one or more capillary tubes, which create liquid surfaces that allow the droplets to be ejected on a stable path along the axis of the ejection capillary. A system of multiple ejection capillaries may be used that may be fed from a common liquid reservoir. The dispenser may be used for surface coating, as well as other applications.

    摘要: An ion funnel screen ions from a gas stream flowing into a differential pump stage of a mass spectrometer, transfers them to a subsequent differential pump stage. The ion funnel uses apertured diaphragms between which gas escapes easily. Holders for the apertured diaphragms are also provided that offer little resistance to the escaping gas while, at the same time, serving to feed the RF and DC voltages.

    摘要: The invention relates to the elucidation of the breakdown of foreign substance in the metabolism of a liquid, chemical or biological reaction system by the analytical determination of the breakdown products (metabolites) produced. It is common practice for this elucidation to be carried out nullblindnull, i.e. without systematic prediction of the breakdown substances, by comparison and subtraction of analytical data sets, which are obtained by, for example, separating the substances in the liquid using liquid chromatography and measuring them using mass spectrometry before and after the foreign substance has been added. Unlike the current method, the invention consists of first calculating a nullvirtualnull breakdown of the foreign substance, taking into account all the possible branches of the breakdown path according to a set of breakdown rules, which can be determined beforehand, so that the predicted potential breakdown products can be looked for selectively by using a more finally tuned method of measurement.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a method for processing a mass spectrum, comprising: (i) providing the mass spectrum which contains a plurality of data pairs, each data pair being representative of a mass value or mass-related value on a mass scale or mass-related scale and an abundance value or abundance-related value associated with the respective mass value or mass-related value, (ii) selecting a plurality of intervals on the mass scale or mass-related scale, each interval containing a multitude of the said data pairs, (iii) for each interval, applying a first mathematical-statistical analysis to the said data pairs contained in the respective interval in order to derive an interval-specific peak width, and (iv) using the said interval-specific peak widths to determine an estimated peak width for each mass value or mass-related value on the mass scale or mass-related scale.
