Abstract:
A thermosetting pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprises a partially cross-linked saturated polyester resin, a butylated melamine-formaldehyde resin, an ethoxyline resin, a flexibilizer and an oxidation inhibitor. A solvent and/or a mineral filler may also be present. The polyester preferably comprises 65 to 85 weight per cent of the total resin mixture, and may be derived from a low molecular weight polyol, preferably a trihydric aliphatic alcohol, e.g. glycerol, butane triol, and trimethylolethane, a C7- 9 hydroxy derivative of benzoic acid, e.g. salicylic acid, a dicarboxylic acid, e.g. phthalic or iso- or terephthalic acid, and a dehydrated natural oil, e.g. dehydrated castor oil or soybean oil. The oil and part of the polyol may be pre-reacted, preferably in the presence of an initiator, e.g. Ca(OH)2, then condensed with the remaining starting materials, preferably in the presence of a condensation catalyst, e.g. isopropyl titanate. The remaining part of the resin mixture in the adhesive composition preferably comprises 3-8 weight per cent of the butylated melamine formaldehyde resin, 3-10 weight per cent of the ethoxyline resin, 3-7 weight per cent of flexibilizer, which is preferably an oil extender, e.g. castor oil or pine oil, and 1-4% of oxidation inhibitor. Suitable solvents and fillers are toluene and xylene, and iron oxide, magnesium oxide, aluminium oxide, silica, carbon black, calcium carbonate, and talc. In the examples a polyester is prepared from dehydrated castor oil, glycerol, salicylic acid and isophthalic acid in xylene i.p.o. Ca(OH)2 and isopropyl titanate. This polyester is milled with iron oxide, talc, pine oil, polymerized trimethyl dihydroquinoline and xylene, and then with an aromatic epoxy resin, castor oil and a butylated MF resin. The composition is used to dip-coat woven fibreglass tape to form a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape which may be used to insulate copper bars.ALSO:A pressure sensitive adhesive insulating tape is prepared by coating a tape with a composition comprising 65-85 wt. % of a partially cross-linked saturated oil-modified polyester resin, 3-8 wt. % of a butylated melamine formaldehyde resin, 3-8 wt. % of a flexibilizer, e.g. castor oil or pine oil, and 1-4 wt. % of an oxidation inhibitor. (see Division C3). In addition there may be present solvents, e.g. toluene and xylene, and fillers or pigments, e.g. iron oxide, aluminium oxide, magnesium oxide, silica, C black, CaCO3 and talc. In Examples a woven glass fibre tape is coated with a mixture of a glycerol/dehydrated castor oil/salicylic acid/isophthalic acid polyester milled with xylone, iron oxide, talc, pine oil, polymerized trimethyl dihydroquinoline, an epoxy resin, castor oil and a butylated MF resin.
Abstract:
A membrane composite comprising a polymeric membrane panel, an adhesive layer, and a release liner, where the adhesive layer is a pressure-sensitive adhesive that is at least partially cured, and includes at least two distinct regions with the at least two regions having distinct states of cure.
Abstract:
The task of the invention is to provide an improved solution for a bond for the surface gluing of components where the bond has an uneven distribution of stress in different areas of the adhesive surface. Corresponding to the stress, such as the distribution of tension, an adhesive should be adjustable in its properties to fit the tension within the adhesive surface, whereby advantageous effects between the respective adhesive adjustments should be used. Through this, a load-optimized bond is created for the overlapping connection of at least two components (5) under usage of a single adhesive (14), that has at least two components, whereby the components are mixed with each other and the adhesive (14) is applied on at least one of the components (5) at least in the area of the overlapping components (5) as an adhesive surface (4) and the components (5) overlap correspondingly and the adhesive (14) is curable, whereby corresponding to mechanical stress, the bond has corresponding component mixture ratios (1, 2, 3, n) in two, three or multiple areas of the adhesive area (4) of the adhesive (!4) in these areas of the adhesive area (4).

Disclosed herein are tape opening systems, containers, and methods to produce display-ready containers formed of paper-based substrates. The clean tear openings of the disclosed containers are accomplished through novel incorporations of monoaxiaily oriented films with directional tear properties. Also disclosed are closure and opening systems for multi-wall and polywoven pinch bottom open mouth bags using same monoaxially tearable films.
Abstract:
A novel transparent double-sided adhesive sheet for image display device is provided, that, under the constraint of holding down the thickness of the adhesive sheet to 250 μm or less, can relieve a distortion arising within the adhesive sheet after laminating even if a member has a stepped portion of 50 μm to 100 μm in height on the laminating surface.Proposed is a transparent double-sided adhesive sheet for image display device which is used for the purpose of laminating an image display device constitutive member having on a laminating surface a stepped portion of 50 μm to 100 μm in height and a flat surface portion, and another image display device constitutive member, wherein a thickness of the maximum thickness portion of the adhesive sheet is 250 μm or less, and a gel fraction (a) at a position in contact with a stepped portion after laminating is 10% or greater and smaller than a gel fraction (b) at a position in contact with a flat surface portion.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates generally to adhesive articles and particularly to adhesive articles comprising a reversible adhesive layer and a non-reversible adhesive layer. The adhesive article may further comprise a backing material. The adhesive article may further comprise a dressing material. Such adhesive articles may be particularly suitable for treatment of damaged sensitive tissue, for example wounds formed on a fragile skin.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a double-sided adhesive tape having a first outer impact-adhesive side and a second outer side that can be heat activated, comprising an at least two-layer product structure comprising the layers A and B. Layer A is an impact-adhesive layer chemically cross-linked by means of thermal initiation or an impact-adhesive carrier layer chemically cross-linked by means of thermal initiation. Layer B is a layer on the basis of a thermoplastic plastic. Layer A and layer B are in direct contact with each other, and the surface of layer B that is in direct contact with layer A has been corona- or plasma-pretreated. The double-sided adhesive tape is characterized in that the corona or plasma pretreatment is performed in an atmosphere comprising nitrogen, carbon dioxide, or a noble gas or a mixture of at least two of said gases.
