    摘要: A pulse train source is coupled to a movable element of the apparatus, for example to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine to provide a speed-dependent pulse train; a reference pulse source provides a reference pulse at a predetermined crankshaft position. Pulse trains having frequencies representative of other engine operating parameters, for example intake manifold vaacuum, engine temperature, and the like, may also be provided. A function storage and transform stage stores, in sequential addresses, the transfer function characteristic between change in speed, manifold inlet pressure, engine temperature, and the like, and required spark advance (or retard) for optimum combustion, in sequential addresses, with respect to speed (or inlet vacuum, temperature, etc.) ranges, and provides sequential binary numbers representative of ignition timing, at the respective speed (and inlet vacuum, temperature, etc.), which are totalized and compared in a binary comparator with the speed pulse train and, upon equality, issues a trigger signal to initiate ignition.

    摘要: A digital computer for determining the ignition angle in a piston engine using the ratio of two pulse counts with a stepdown counter preceding the counter for the denominator of the ratio to further include a multiplication factor corresponding to an additional factor in the ratio. The ratio is determined using adders and flip-flop memories coupled in parallel to both the step down counter and the denominator counter with a carry pulse connection between the step down counter adder and the denominator counter adder. A counter is provided for the numerator of the ratio and a comparator used to compare the outputs of the memories and the numerator counter with operation controlled by a control circuit and the result of the division stored in a result counter.

    摘要: A pulse generator provides a pulse train representative of angular position of the engine crankshaft, and a marker pulse, at a predetermined angular crankshaft position. A counter is connected to the train of pulses, to start counting upon occurrence of the marker pulses. A digital/analog converter converts the binary count numbers into an analog signal, which is compared with engine operation signals representative of spark advance or retardation, the comparator providing an output when the count derived from the counter and the operation parameter control signals match. The engine operation control signal may be a composite of signals commanding spark advance or spark retardation, such as speed signals, load signals or other operating parameter signals, applied to the comparator as varying voltages or currents.
