摘要: Stimulation treatments for various medical disorders, such as neurological disorders, comprise novel systems, strategies, and methods for providing TMS, electrical, magnetic, optical and other stimulation modalities. Some stimulation methods comprise varying the stimulation parameters to improve the therapeutic efficacy of stimulation, and decrease risk of habituation and side-effects such as interference with normal brain, sensory, motor, and cognitive processes. The creation, and subsequent variation, of stimulation parameters can use sensed data in order to match, adjust, or avoid matching characteristics of the stimulation therapy relative to certain endogenous brain activities. Novel methods are described for choosing, creating and subsequently stimulating with partial signals which summate to produce therapeutic vector fields having unique temporal patterns and low- or high-frequency spectral content. Improvements for the treatment of pain are disclosed.

摘要: A drug delivery system provides for controlled dispensing of drug. When designed for mixing of drugs, at least one mixing chamber may be used. Flow controllers guide drugs into single or multiple catheters, enabling a single lumen catheter to dispense multiple drugs, diluting a concentrated drug to provide varying drug concentration. A buffer fluid can deliver precise drug amounts or can separate drugs within a catheter. A patient's bodily fluid can serve as a diluent or buffer fluid. A drug testing/filler apparatus may be used to facilitate filling of multiple reservoirs or other delivery. Bolus or continuous delivery of drug to selected distal locations can occur at independent rates. New catheter systems, hub assemblies, and uses therefore are also described. New methods for promotion of healthy pregnancy and treatment of a developing fetus are disclosed.

The system can provide bolus or continuous delivery and enable the measured delivery of drug to selected distal locations at independent rates. New types of catheter systems, catheter hub assemblies, and uses therefore are also described. New methods for promotion of healthy pregnancy and treatment of a developing fetus are disclosed.

摘要: A device for detecting cardiac ischemia is disclosed. The device includes a processor that is configured to operate in three different modes according to relative frequency of different beat types. If beats of a first beat type, such as ventricularly paced beats, are predominant, the processor ignores other beat types and performs ischemia detection only on ventricularly paced beats. Conversely, if beats of a second beat type, such as sinus or atrially paced beats, are predominant, the processor ignores ventricularly paced beats and performs ischemia detection only on sinus or atrially paced beats. If there is a mixture of beat types such that neither predominates, the processor performs ischemia detection on both beat types.

摘要: Alarm tests are disclosed which use alarm test signals to assess alarms provided by medical devices. Especially relevant are implanted devices that monitor cardiac activity and provide notification in response to medically relevant events. Alarm tests can occur periodically, or in response to a patient, doctor, or remote party initiating the alarm test. Alarm tests can also occur during the actual alarms issued to detected medical events. Alarm tests lead to pass or fail results, which in turn may cause operations to contingently occur. Alarm test failure in the auditory, visual, or tactile modality, may cause an alternatively defined alarm signal to be used as back-up. Alarm test logs can store alarm test results, including quantification of the measured alarm signal. Rapid alarm tests are described, as are various methods of accurately measuring characteristics of the test signal in ambulatory patients, which are especially relevant to a vibration alarm.

摘要: The present invention is a wireless power system which includes components which can be recharged by harvesting wireless power, wireless power transmitters for transmitting the power, and devices which are powered from the components. Features such as temperature monitoring, tiered network protocols including both data and power communication, and power management strategies related to both charging and non-charging operations, are used to improve performance of the wireless network. Rechargeable batteries which are configured to be recharged using wireless power have unique components specifically tailored for recharging operations rather than for providing power to a device. A wireless power supply for powering implanted devices benefits from an external patient controller which contains features for adjusting both power transmission and harvesting provided by other components of the wireless power network.

摘要: The present invention involves methods and systems for treatment of brain disorders using neuromodulation of brain networks. Treatment of one or more brain networks associated with a brain disorder is realized with a consideration of network dynamics and coupling effects such as indirect stimulation of non-target regions. A brain modulation system (BMS) increases, decreases, or otherwise modulates network regional activity in a differential manner. Therapy may aim to maintain electrical or chemical (relative) characteristics within a specified range. Therapy is initiated/adjusted using network functional imaging data including the use of brain network modeling. Linking rules may guide in the setting and subsequent adjusting of the therapy related to regions of brain network. Novel techniques are described for deterring the emergence of neural adaptation and of unintentional/indirect modulation arising from connectivity between network structures.

摘要: A medical alarm communications system comprises a pager like device to be kept near a patient. The pager like device communicates medical alerts regarding the patient to a remote central station, which can provide therapeutic and/or diagnostic assistance by communicating to the pager like device. When the pager like device determines that an alert should be sent to the central station, it attempts to establish communication with the central station according to a primary communication protocol. If this attempt is unsuccessful according to some predetermined criteria (e.g. too much time has elapsed before communication is established), then the pager like device generates a message to the patient indicative of the failure, and The attempts to establish communication with the central station according to a secondary communication protocol.
