Abstract: A system for providing a virtual environment on an at least one computing device. The system includes, a server arrangement to generate at least one first image associated with the virtual environment on at least one first virtual pattern, render visual orientations associated with the at least one first image on a render target, and generate at least one second image; and at least one computing device, communicably coupled with the server arrangement, to receive the at least one second image from the server arrangement, render each of the render targets of the at least one second image on an at least one second virtual pattern, determine the movement of head of the at least one user, and provide the virtual environment on a display arrangement based on a movement of head of the at least one user.

Abstract: A game engine may generate video and audio content on a per-frame basis. Audio data corresponding to a current frame may be generated to comprise sound-field information independent of a speaker configuration or spatialization technology that may be used to play the associated audio. The sound-field may be generated based on monaural audio data corresponding to a sound produced by an in-game object at the object's position as of the current frame. The sound-field information may be transmitted to a remote computing device for reproduction using a selected, available speaker configuration and spatialization technology.

Abstract: A method for an online video game or application service system includes running a video game or application on an application host server at a data center, an uncompressed video stream being produced therefrom. The uncompressed video stream is encoded into compressed video stream, which is then transmitted over the Internet to an output client device of a user. The output client device decompresses the compressed video stream and displays live video on a screen. User control input transmitted from an input client device is delivered to the application host server. The user control input includes game or application commands. The input client device is associated with the user and is separate from the output client device. Responsive to receiving the game or application commands, the application host server generates a new uncompressed video stream.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method are described for performing video compression by an online video game service is provided. One example method includes receiving user input by a server and the user input is received from a client device over a network established between the client device and the server. The user input is from an input device associated with the client device and the client device and the input device are used to access the server to play a video game. The method further includes executing the video game on the server while receiving user input from the input device, and the video game produces a video output including a sequence of video images of the video game. Encoding each of the sequence of video images in a video encoding resource of the server to generate a sequence of encoded video frames and transmitting the sequence of encoded video frames by the server over the communication channel to the client device for decoding to produce a corresponding sequence of decoded video frames. The sequence of decoded video frames is configured to be rendered on a display device associated with the client device. The method further includes detecting a change in a communication channel characteristic of the communication channel, and the detected change is based on feedback information received by the server. The feedback information is received from the client device and dynamically adjusting a compression ratio for said encoding of the sequence of encoded video frames based on the detected change in the communication channel characteristic.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling a visitor to access VR representations authored by different authors of images at different quality levels at various locations in a virtual universe via a computer network are provided. A plurality of data sets may be stored in memory. Each VR data set may define a VR representation of a location and may be independently authored by a respective author different from the other authors. In addition, each VR dataset may have a speed and quality metric to assist the visitors in an optimized experience. One or more VR data servers may access and transmit the VR data sets of various quality and speeds, each of which may be associated with a VR data server having access to the VR data set. A domain server may be adapted to access and transmit domain data comprising the location within the universe of each VR representation and the network address of the VR data server associated with the VR representation. Further, a client host may be adapted to communicate with the domain server to receive domain data representing the network address of the VR data server associated with a bets matched quality and speed VR representation and to communicate with that VR data server to access the VR data set defining the VR representation without leaving the virtual universe.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for providing full-motion animation-as-a-service. In some examples, short motion-capture segments may be captured from user motion user interface devices and stored in a database. When a full-motion animation is desired, a start pose and a target pose may be provided, and a multiple-path, multiple-iteration search through the database may be used to assemble the full-motion animation. Motion retargeting may be used to further refine the assembled full-motion animation.
