A pneumatic tire comprising a black colored tread with at least one colored groove wherein the top surface of the tread designed to be ground-contacting is essentially free of non-black color. A non-black component is placed over the tread strip and covered with a thermoformable film prior to forming the groove pattern. After vulcanization, the film is removed, and the tread lugs buffed free of color, if necessary, thereby forming a tire having color localized in the tread grooves.
Abstract:
A safety tire with illumination including a tire adapted for operative positioning on a vehicle. The tire has a plurality of treads extending circumferentially around a perimeter thereof, and annular recesses between the treads. Fluorescently colored rubber is disposed within the annular recesses of the plurality of treads of the tire. Fluorescently colored steel belts of a contrasting color extend within the treads to indicate when the tire is unduly worn.

The present invention relates to colored compositions used as coatings for tires. The present invention relates to a tire having an outer rubber surface based at least in part on essentially unsaturated diene elastomers, which is covered with the colored coating. The coating comprises at least one layer in contact with the air and has a composition comprising a majority proportion of polyurethane produced from a polyol selected from the group consisting of aliphatic polyethers, aliphatic polyesters, polyethers having a main chain that is semi-aromatic and polyesters having a main chain that is semi-aromatic, and flakes of aluminum in an amount of between 20 and 150 parts of flakes per hundred parts of dry polyurethane, phr, wherein the bond between the elastomer and the polyurethane being produced due to the polar functions. The present invention also relates to methods of producing the composition and the tire comprising the composition.

The invention provides a pneumatic tire which can reduce a rolling resistance while maintaining an wear resistance. Among a cap portion in a center area, at least the cap portion of a center land portion is provided with a cap front layer which includes a surface, and a cap inner layer which is laminated in an inner periphery of the cap front layer. A loss tangent of the cap front layer is set to be smaller than a loss tangent of the cap inner layer and be smaller than a loss tangent of the cap portions in the shoulder areas.
