摘要: An electroosmotic micropump having a plurality of thin, closely-spaced, approximately planar, transversel aligned partitions formed in or on a substrate, among which electroosmotic flow (EOF) is generated. Electrodes are located within enclosed inlet and outlet manifolds on either side of the partition array. Inlet and outlet ports enable fluid to be pumped into and through the micropump and through an external friction load or head. Insulating layer coatings on the formed substrate limit substrate leakage current during pumping operation.

摘要: A thermally driven piston assembly comprises a material that undergoes a dimensional change when subjected to a temperature change in the temperature range of interest. The dimensional change imparts movement which effects an end result such as actuation, shock absorption, clutch action, braking, or mechanical power. The assembly can further comprise position sensing means for sensing movement of the component of interest, and passive and/or active heating and/or cooling means for effecting the temperature change.

摘要: An active matrix microfluidic platform employs thin film transistor active (“TFT”) matrix liquid crystal display technology to manipulate small samples of fluid for chemical, biochemical, or biological assays without moving parts, for example, using a two-dimensional matrix array of drive electrodes. The active matrix microfluidic platform may employ existing active matrix addressing schemes and/or commercial “off-the-shelf” animation software to program assay protocols. A feedback subsystem may determine an actual location of a fluid in the microfluidic structure, and provides location information to for display, for example, on an active matrix display, and/or to control movement of one or more fluid bodies in the microfluidic structure.

摘要: A microfluidic pump driven by thermoacoustic effect is mainly composed of a thermoacoustic device, a fluid-storing tank, and at least one microchannel, etc., wherein the thermoacoustic device may convert thermal energy into acoustic energy. Pressure fluctuation and velocity fluctuation with high frequency are generated by the acoustic wave. According to the high amplitude pressure fluctuation, the microfluid with high moving velocity emitted through microchannels. Since there is no movable part arranged in the thermo-acoustic generator. In the meantime, it indirectly drives the working fluid located in the fluid-storing tank by the manner of indirect contact. So the present invention may be applied in the non-conductive fluid so as to greatly extend its field of application. Moreover, the characteristics of the fluid won't be influenced by the heating process as well. The present invention is indeed a microfluid-driving device that has inventiveness and high application value.

摘要: An apparatus for generating power from over the road vehicular traffic and moving trains are disclosed. The apparatus include on or more hydraulic actuators, each of which has a piston at least partially slidably mounted in a fluid cavity contained therein. When a passing vehicle or train car engages the actuator, the weight of the vehicle pushes the piston into the fluid cavity and causes fluid to flow from the fluid cavity toward a turbine or other power conversion means. The flow causes the turbine to rotate, thereby producing useable energy.

摘要: A system for controlling operation of a fluid pump includes a pressure sensor operably coupled to a fluid gun and a controller operably coupled to the pressure sensor. The controller is configured to receive an input indicative of a desired pressure at the fluid gun. The controller is also configured to receive a signal indicative of pressure at the fluid gun. The controller is further configured to determine a desired gear of a transmission operably coupled to the fluid pump based on a desired operating speed of the fluid pump. The controller is also configured to operate the transmission in the desired gear to substantially achieve the desired pressure at the fluid gun.
