摘要: The present invention is directed to a cooling system (1) for electronic components (4). The cooling system (1) comprises means (7) for producing cyclic air pressure fluctuations, wherein the electronic components (4) are distanced from the pressure producing means (7). In the vicinity of the electronic components (4) are situated means (5), preferably restrictions like holes, which are affected by the cyclic air pressure fluctuations, and which produce cyclic air jets (6). The air jets (6) affect the surface of the electronic component (4), and since the air jets (6) originate directly in the vicinity of the electronic components (4), an efficient heat transfer is affected. Preferably, the pressure producing means (7) actuate a pressure Pc inside a chamber (2), and turbulent air jets (6) are produced through holes (5) of a substrate (3), onto which electronic components (4) are mounted.

摘要: A disc pump system includes a pump body having a substantially cylindrical shape defining a cavity for containing a fluid, and an actuator operatively associated with the central portion of a driven end wall to cause an oscillatory motion of the driven end wall thereby generating displacement oscillations with an annular node between the center of the driven end wall and the side wall when in use. A heating element is thermally coupled to the actuator to maintain the actuator at a target temperature.

摘要: Systems, devices and methods are provided, for acquiring and dispensing predetermined volumes of liquids and, in particular, to a unique piezoelectric dispenser for acquiring and dispensing of small volumes of fluid in an automatic or manual production of DNA arrays and assays, wherein droplets are dispensed in a single drop format with volumes that may range from about a few picoliters to several nanoliters. The dispenser can advantageously utilize a disposable capillary tube assembly while desirably retaining the piezoelectric actuator for subsequent further uses, thereby mitigating the possibility of cross contamination of fluids and providing an economical and cost effective approach with reuse of the piezoelectric actuator for further operation such as with a variety of liquids to be dispensed and transferred. A unique longitudinal transducer can transmit radial tube displacement into controlled axial motion of the tube.

摘要: A liquid control apparatus controls movement of liquid in a microfluidic device having a sample introducing port, a sample delivering port, and a flow channel for holding liquid. The apparatus includes a vibration wave generating section for generating a vibration wave to be applied to the microfluidic device, and a signal supplying section for supplying drive signals so as to make the vibration wave generating section oscillate in different oscillation modes. The signal supplying section is capable of generating drive signals in a plurality of drive signal supply modes for realizing at least three of a transfer mode for moving liquid in a predetermined direction, a stop mode for stopping the movement of liquid, a mixing and/or agitation mode for mixing and/or agitating liquid, and a localization mode for localizing a predetermined substance in liquid, and for supplying the drive signals to the vibration wave generating section in a selected supply mode. In addition, the microfluidic device is held on the vibration wave generating section, and the transfer mode is carried out by using a resonance frequency to cause the microfluidic device to resonate.

摘要: A system and method for loading gases or other soluble fuel or catalyst materials into a liquid cavitation medium such as a liquid metal, which may be cavitated under static pressure so as to cause a desired energetic reaction in the dissolved gaseous fuel substance at the cavitation sites. Examples of liquid cavitation media can include liquid metals such as liquid gallium, and examples of dissolved gaseous fuel substances can include deuterium. Sufficiently intense cavitation (for example carried out under high static pressures) may provide energetic reactions in the fuel that release subatomic particles therefrom such as neutrons. The present system and method may be used to load such gaseous fuels into other liquid metal systems, including systems that are non-cavitation-based or that cause cavitation in the liquid by means other than the acoustical drivers described in the preferred embodiments.
