A high reflectivity coated substrate and coating composition employing a binder containing a polyester resin that includes a cycloaliphatic group and has a number average molecular weight from about 1,000 to 40,000. The binder contains less than 40 weight percent aromatic group containing compound and the weight ratio of pigment to binder is greater than 0.9:1. When the binder is blended with rutile TiO2 at a solids loading of 50 weight percent and coated to a dried film thickness of 0.00254 cm, the coating exhibits a Y-value of at least 85.5.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compositions useful as a barrier layer in, for example, packaging products. The compositions generally comprise a blend of (i) a polyester resin, preferably an aromatic polyester resin such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and (ii) a polyamide material (e.g., MXD6). The blend optionally may further comprise (iii) an oxygen scavenging material. The present invention also provides containers (e.g., containers formed by expansion of preforms) having a multilayered body-forming portion including: a core layer comprising the aforementioned blend; and inner and outer layers of a formable polymer composition. The present invention also provides methods of making such containers .

A composition and method of infiltrating an article of manufacture prepared by a laser sintering process is disclosed. The infiltration process maintains the dimensions and flexibility of the article, increases the strength of the article, and improves the physical and esthetic properties of the article.

The universal colorant composition is a composition which includes a colorant component, such as pigment, dye, colorant, tinting agent and/or metal effect agent; a surfactant package including at least one alkyd-compatible surfactant; and at least one latex-compatible surfactant; and when the surfactant package is added to a base paint it provides a mixture having a drop in viscosity of less than about 50%.

The present invention provides a coating composition, and coated substrates and articles. The coating composition includes a binder containing a polyester resin that is formed using at least one aromatic, dicarboxylic acid and at least one asymmetric diol. The present invention also provides coating compositions that may be used on articles where excellent outdoor durability is desired. A method of coating and fabricating a substrate is also included.

A method of forming a coating on a food or beverage container, which includes spraying a coating composition onto an interior surface of the food or beverage container, where the coating composition includes a latex copolymer and a metal drier or crosslinking agent. The latex copolymer is a reaction product of monomers that include (a) one or more styrene-offset monomers containing one or more cyclic groups and one or more ethylenically-unsaturated pendant groups, at least a portion of such styrene-offset monomers being polycyclic monomers containing ring unsaturation, and (b) one or more other ethylenically-unsaturated monomers. Preferably, the coating composition is substantially free of BPA, PVC, and styrene. The method may also include curing the sprayed coating composition, thereby providing the coating on the interior surface of the food or beverage container.

A curable resin composition includes an acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester with a branched molecular skeleton containing olefinically unsaturated functional groups therein and acetoacetyl functional groups chemically bonded to the branched molecular skeleton. The acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester contains at least 2 wt % of the olefinically unsaturated functional groups, relative to the total weight of the acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester, and at least 20 wt % of the acetoacetyl functional groups, relative to the total weight of the acetoacetyl functional unsaturated polyester. The curable resin composition can be used to formulate coating compositions.
