Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for dynamic directional synchronization signal signals in a millimeter wave communication system. A base station may determine a narrowband signal component and a wideband signal component of a synchronization signal for millimeter wave communications. The base station may identify network characteristic(s) of the millimeter wave communication network and adjust parameter(s) of the narrowband signal and/or the wideband signal components of the synchronization signal. The parameters may include a transmission power split or ratio, a bandwidth, a tone selection, or combinations thereof.

In another aspect, the apparatus determines a timeslot for receiving at least one beacon respectively from at least one connection point based on the reference timing information, wakes during the timeslot, monitors for the at least one beacon in one or more directions respectively corresponding to a number of subslots of the timeslot, and receives the at least one beacon in the at least one timeslot in at least one direction of the one or more directions.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for opportunistically using at least a portion of a dedicated short range communications (DSRC) spectrum. A multi-mode device is operated outside of the DSRC spectrum. An activity level is detected on at least a portion of the DSRC spectrum, and it is determined whether to use at least the portion of the DSRC spectrum based at least in part on the detected activity level.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for adapting access timing parameters when using DSRC spectrum. A multi-mode device may adapt at least one access timing parameter while operating within the DSRC spectrum. The at least one access timing parameter may be adapted to provide priority to transmissions of DSRC devices using the DSRC spectrum. The multi-mode device may increase a duration of a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS) to be at least equal to a duration of a SIFS used by a DSRC device.
Abstract:
A UE receives information indicating a receive direction vector for a serving BS and a set of receive direction vectors for at least one interfering BS. The UE determines a channel between the UE and the serving BS and a set of channels between the UE and each of the at least one interfering BS. The UE determines a transmit direction vector to apply to modulated symbols for mapping to a set of resource blocks for an uplink transmission based on the channel, the set of channels, the receive direction vector, and the set of receive direction vectors. The UE determines an interference caused to the at least one interfering BS by the uplink transmission based on the transmit direction vector, the set of channels, and the set of receive direction vectors. The UE transmits information indicating the interference to the serving BS.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The methods, systems, and devices provide for identifying tone spacing for transmission or reception of signals. The identified tone spacing may vary depending on the transmission or reception spectrum band or signal type. Using the identified tone spacing, a number of repetitions or a number of symbols for transmission or receiver algorithm of a signal may be determined.
Abstract:
According to some aspects of the disclosure, techniques for compression techniques for the radar data that can be used in real-time applications for automated or self-driving vehicles. One or more compression techniques can be selected and/or configured based on information regarding operational conditions provided by a central (vehicle) computer. Operational conditions can include environmental data (e.g., weather, traffic), processing capabilities, mode of operation, and more. Compression techniques can facilitate transport of compressed radar data from a radar sensor to the central computer for processing of the radar data for object detection, identification, positioning, etc.
Abstract:
In some aspects, a device may receive point data associated with a cell of an occupancy grid for controlling a vehicle. The device may determine, based on the point data, a characteristic of the cell that is associated with an occupancy probability of the cell, wherein the occupancy probability is determined according to a first technique based on the point data. The device may configure, based on the characteristic, the occupancy probability for the cell, within the occupancy grid, according to a second technique. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for performing a beam recovery procedure using a second CC are disclosed. A UE may perform a beam recovery procedure using two component carriers (CCs): for example, first component carrier may be a beam formed millimeter wave (MMW) carrier having a beam recovery procedure and second component carrier may be an assisting carrier such as a sub-6 GHz carrier or a different MMW carrier. In a first example, a UE may trigger beam recovery for first component carrier (on second component carrier), generate a beam measurement report, and transmit the beam report on resources allocated for uplink transmission on second component carrier. In a second example, a new scheduling request (SR) may be defined on first component carrier for second component carrier beam recovery. In a third example, RACH resources or procedures on second component carrier may be used to perform the beam recovery for first component carrier.

In some aspects, a base station may send a beam modification command that indicates a set of transmit beam indexes corresponding to a set of transmit beams of a base station, and each transmit beam index of the set of transmit beam indexes may indicate at least a transmit direction for transmitting a transmit beam by the base station. The base station may send, in association with the beam modification command, a reference signal using at least one transmit beam of the set of transmit beams, where a first portion of the reference signal is sent in a first set of symbols and a second portion of the reference signal is received in a second set of symbols.
