摘要: A system, method, or device monitor a force-frequency relationship exhibited by a patient's heart. A contractility characteristic, such as a heart sound characteristic of an S1 heart sound, is measured. The contractility characteristic indicates the forcefulness of a contraction of the heart. The frequency at which the heart is contracting is determined. A group of (contractility characteristic, heart rate) pairs is stored in a memory device. The group of pairs defines a force-frequency relationship for the heart. The method may be implemented by an implantable device, or by a system including a implantable device.

摘要: A system, operatively connectable both to a cardiac-rhythm-management (CRM) subject, and to a CRM device associated with that subject, and an associated method, operable, in relation to received-and-processed, real-time, CRM-subject-specific, simultaneous ECG and heart-sound information, and other information including measurement time markers where available, for blocking, under all circumstances during the ventricular relative refractory period lying within each of successive CRM-subject cardiac cycles occupying a span of such cycles, the ventricular pacing activity of the subject-associated CRM device—the beginning and ending of such blocking in each cardiac cycle being system-defined to lie preferably, and respectively, (a) within the real-time, ventricular depolarization window in the cycle, and (b) at the time of the real-time, S2 heart-sound, plus or minus any user-defined time-delta.

摘要: An implantable medical device and associated method deliver cardiac resynchronization therapy in a patient having right bundle branch block by measuring an interval between a right atrial depolarization and a first heart sound and selecting a right atrial-ventricular (AV) pacing interval in response to the measured interval. Pacing pulses are delivered to the right ventricle of a patient's heart at the selected right AV pacing interval to synchronize the right ventricle with an intrinsic left ventricle depolarization.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention relate to implantable systems, and methods for use therewith, for monitoring myocardial mechanical stability based on a signal that is indicative of mechanical functioning of a patient's heart for a plurality of consecutive beats. Certain embodiments use time domain techniques, while other embodiments use frequency domain techniques, to monitor myocardial mechanical stability. In certain embodiments the patient's heart is paced using a patterned pacing sequence that repeats every N beats. In other embodiments, the patient's heart need not be paced. This abstract is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.
