    Abstract: Techniques are described for detecting and correcting mis-programming of label information in a router of a label switched path (LSP) without initially triggering a tear-down of the LSP. For example, techniques described in this disclosure enable an ingress router to determine whether label information is correctly programmed between a routing engine (e.g., control plane) and a forwarding engine (e.g., forwarding plane) of a router in the LSP, and to correct any mis-programming of label information by informing the router to reprogram the forwarding engine with original forwarding label information associated with the LSP.

    Abstract: A communication network is configured to operate a remote Loop-Free Alternate (LFA) procedure. Prior to detecting a link failure or switchover event associated with a protected link within a current path between a source node and a destination node of the communication network, a Point of Local Repair (PLR) node is configured for the protected link, and a repair tunnel endpoint node is configured for the PLR node. In response to detecting a link failure or switchover event associated with the protected link, a repair path is established between the source node and the destination node. The repair path is routed via the repair tunnel endpoint node, and the route of the repair path excludes the PLR node and the protected link.

    Abstract: Upon detecting a failure of a switch link in a set of multiple redundant switch links that directly connect two nodes in the switch fabric network, the system performs a failover operation that remaps network traffic associated with the failed switch link to an alternative switch link in the set of multiple redundant switch links. Each node in the switch fabric network maintains a mapping table that translates from logical ports and associated logical virtual lanes to physical ports and associated virtual lanes. The system also provisions switch links with private virtual lanes comprising resources to facilitate failover operations. While remapping the network traffic, the system changes the mapping table so that network traffic, which is presently directed to a physical port and associated virtual lane for the failed switch link, is remapped to an alternative physical port and an associated private virtual lane, for the alternative switch link.

    Abstract: A computerized system for performing preparation operations for a maintenance activity that causes a disruption in a communication path of traffic over a multilayer network. The system comprising: a maintenance tool configured to coordinate maintenance activities of the multi-layer network based on maintenance activity-data, a storage unit to store the maintenance activity data; and a multi-layer control system comprising a processor, wherein said processor is configured to: receive from the maintenance tool an indication that one or more maintenance activities are required on an indicated optical resource, determine an affected optical path, determine an affected IP link utilizing said affected optical path; remove traffic from the affected IP link; remove the affected optical path; activate an alternative optical path; configure the packet switching layer to utilize the alternative optical path; and repeat for each alVecied optical path and each affected IP link.
