摘要: A method forms an adhesion joint between a cord and a rubber matrix. The method includes the steps of providing a cord having an initial relatively smooth surface, texturing the smooth surface such that the resulting surface is rougher than the initial surface of the cord, and inserting the cord into a rubber matrix such that the resulting surface provides enhanced adhesion to the rubber matrix compared to the adhesion of the initial surface to the rubber matrix.

摘要: The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire having a component comprising at least one elastomer containing olefinic unsaturation; and compound of formula I wherein: R1, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R8 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, halogen, or substituted or unsubstituted oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur atoms; R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, or is absent; R7 is substituted or unsubstituted oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, or halogen; R9, R10, R11 and R12 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, halogen, nitro or substituted or unsubstituted oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur atoms; and X is oxygen, sulfur, or nitrogen.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a process of preparing a nanocomposite comprised of an elastomer and at least partially exfoliated, intercalated water-swellable clay, comprising the steps of (A) forming a first blend of water-swelled clay and anionic polymer particle emulsion by blending: (1) an aqueous mixture comprised of water and a multilayered water-swellable clay, exclusive of an intercalant for said clay, wherein said water-swellable clay is comprised of a plurality of stacked platelets with water-expanded galleries between said platelets, wherein said galleries contain naturally occurring cationic ion exchangeable ions therein; and (2) an elastomer latex comprising an elastomer selected from the group consisting of natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene, polybutadiene, and styrene-butadiene rubber; (B) blending with said first blend an aqueous mixture comprised of water and from 1 to 5 percent by weight of a polar polymer selected from the group consisting of hydroxyethylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose sodium salt, starch, modified starch, gelatin, polyvinylalcohol, polyacrylic acid, polyacrylic acid salts, derivatives of polyacrylic acid, and carboxylated rubbers.
