摘要: A Diffuse Reflective Light Curtain System comprises at least one light curtain defining a border of a work zone for a robotic machine. Each light curtain comprises a primary board having multiple wells formed therein. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) and light detectors are alternately placed in the multiple wells. The LEDs shine light up from the wells to form a curtain of light above the primary board. If an object comes into contact with the curtain of light emitted from the LEDs, the light is reflected back to toward the board and enters the wells of the board where the light detectors sense the presence of LED light. When the light detectors in the wells sense the presence of LED light, they send a signal to a controller to indicate that the light curtain has been breached by a foreign object. The controller, in turn, suspends the operation of the robotic machine that is protected by the light curtain. If multiple light curtains are used to define a plurality of work zones, sensors may be connected to the controller to determine the physical position of the robotic machine. The controller selectively enables or disables each of the light curtains based upon inputs received from the sensors to allow for foreign objects to enter particular work zones at different times during the operation of the robotic machine.

摘要: An optical fourier transform image representative of characteristics of a liquid sample and particles within the fluid sample is quickly and inexpensively generated by an optical fourier transform system. A small liquid sample is received in a lenticular array liquid sample container with the fluid sample entering open-ended microchannels in the container preferably by capillary action. The container is formed of an optical material such that the fluid sample in the microchannels forms a grating when placed into an optical fourier transform system. Accordingly, the fourier transform image generated within the system is characteristic of the liquid sample forming the grating for the system. The liquid sample container is formed of two plates of optical acrylic, which may be coated or otherwise treated to make it non-hydrophobic to prevent the loss of moisture from liquid samples. A first one of the plates has an array of microgrooves formed into a first surface of the plate. A second plate defines a microgroove surface for engaging the first plate to close the microgrooves and turn them into the open-ended microchannels of the container. The two plates are aligned relative to one another by pins on one plate which are received in matching apertures in the other plate. The two plates are secured to one another by an appropriate adhesive. The first plate also defines a handle for holding and handling the container.

摘要: A bipolar electrosurgical tool comprises a retractable cutting element movable along a cutting path and an electrical energy supply source which communicates electrical energy (e.g., radio frequency energy) through one or more energy delivering electrodes associated with a tissue affecting portion of the tool to tissue adjacent the electrodes. One or more additional electrodes, such as return electrodes, form a second pole of the bipolar electrical connection are also associated with the tissue affecting portion and are electrically isolated from the energy delivering electrode. Various combinations of electrically conductive and electrically isolated elements associated with the tissue affecting portion of the device can be used as the two poles of the bipolar system.

摘要: A disposable light source device for the non-invasive visualization of veins, arteries or other subcutaneous structures of and objects in the body, or for facilitating and monitoring intravenous insertion or extraction of fluids, including a conforming layer for interfacing and optically coupling with the body surface, and adhering the device to the body portion, and a main light source for directing near infrared light through the conforming layer to illuminate the body. The disposable light source device can also include a light transmissive and electrically insulative layer that is disposed between and electrically insulates the main light source from the body-contacting conforming layer. The disposable light source device can also include a proximity sensor that controls activation of the first light source such that the light source is on only when the conforming layer is brought into proximity to the body surface.

摘要: A light and bioelectric therapy pad that delivers light and bioelectric stimulation to adjacent tissue. The therapy pad includes an electrical tracing circuit containing elongated, parallel and spaced-apart approximate linear tracings (ALT) that provide current flow in opposite directions along the ALT during alternating positive and negative drive cycles of an alternating current (AC) supply. The ALT includes first and second header tracings wired to a row of light emitting diodes (LEDs), with the anodes of a first group of LEDs wired to the first header tracing, and the anodes of the remaining LEDs wired to the second header tracing. The ALTs are wired into the circuit with current flowing to the first header tracing at one end of the row of LEDs, and to the second header tracing at the opposite end, so that adjacent ALT provide current flow in opposite directions during both positive and negative drive cycles.
