    摘要: A sheet for protecting paint films of automobiles which can prevent the paint film of automobiles from suffering from damages such as discoloration and denaturation even if rainwater or washer penetrates into the gap between the adhesive cover and the paint film while achieving excellent protection function to suspended matters, colliding matters, etc. inherent to protecting sheets and being easily peeled off and removed after completion of the desired protection. The sheet for protecting paint films of automobiles comprises a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having a roughened surface provided on a substrate made of fiber sheet. Even when rainwater, washer, etc. penetrates into the gap between the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the paint film of automobiles from wrinkles formed thereon, the liquid diffuses by capillary action through the gap developed by the roughened pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, making it possible to avoid the residence and concentration of the penetrated dirty water and hence prevent the occurrence of damages such as discoloration and denaturation of the paint film. Further, the arrangement of a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having a roughened surface reflecting the fiber constituting the protecting sheet, particularly a fibrous continuous roughened surface, makes it possible to further diffuse the contaminating dirty water and hence further avoid the retention and concentration of the penetrated dirty water. Thus, the damages on the paint film can be more securely prevented.

    摘要: A sheet for protecting paint films of automobiles for adhering to the incompletely cured paint films of automobiles comprising two pack urethane paint, the sheet comprising a support and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed thereon, wherein the sheet has a Young's modulus E of at least 75 N/mm.sup.2 and a coefficient of flexural stress k represented by the formula k=Eh.sup.3 wherein h is a thickness of the support, of 0.035 or less. The protective sheet can uniformly protect the paint films and easily be peeled and removed therefrom without causing environmental problems and adhesive remaining of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. Even when the sheet is adhered to incompletely cured paint films of automobiles and they are allowed to stand for a long period of time under an outside high temperature in summer, the sheet does not cause the deformation of the paint film and the microdeformations by the deformation of the paint film at the edge portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The protective sheet can be reserved in a roll state without causing the change of form by, for example, a telescope phenomenon.

    摘要: A process for applying a protective self-adhesive film onto a coat-finished product having an object unnecessary to be protected by the protective self-adhesive film, which process comprises (1) the following steps: applying a perforated self-adhesive film (a) having a perforation onto the surface of the coating of the coat-finished product so that an area occupied by the object may be positioned within the perforation, applying a protective self-adhesive film onto the object, the perforated self-adhesive film (a) and such a part of the coating of the coat-finished product as not to be covered with the perforated self-adhesive film (a), and removing an unnecessary portion of the protective self-adhesive film over the perforation; or (2) the following steps: applying the protective self-adhesive film onto the object and a coating of the coat-finished product, cutting out such an unnecessary portion of the protective self-adhesive film as positioned over the area occupied by the object by use of a cylindrical cutting device comprising a ring-shaped cutter blade and a cylindrical pressing means, preferably further comprising a ribbon heater to heat the cutter blade to press and adhere the remaining portion of the protective self-adhesive film around the onto the coating of the coat-finished product, and removing the cut unnecessary portion of the protective self-adhesive film by suction.
