摘要: A variable resistor having an insulating substrate, a resistive film applied to the surface of the substrate and spaced terminals supported by the resistor and in electrical connection with the resistive film. The resistance of the film is adjusted by means of scribing to remove portions of the film to provide a means of isolating certain areas of the film to increase the resistance of the electrical path between the terminals. Embodiments of the assemblage are disclosed wherein the scribing tool may provide an arcuate configuration or a linear configuration to provide desired resistance values.

摘要: A method of making a printed circuit network device including steps of depositing an insulating primary substrate layer on a temporary support member having a release surface, applying to the exposed surface of the primary substrate layer certain defined conductor areas, applying defined resistor areas on the exposed surface of the primary substrate layer and in electrical connection with the conductor areas, trimming the respective resistor areas to a predetermined resistive value, mounting the temporary support member with its several layers in facing relationship with a permanent support member, and thereafter releasing and removing the temporary support member from the mounted primary support layer.

摘要: An electrical resistor element and method of manufacturing the same. The element may comprise a fixed resistor or may be the resistive and collector component of a variable resistor. In either case, the element comprises, at least as a portion thereof, a substrate comprising an insulating substrate injection molded from ceramic-glass frit material and organic binder and lubricating material. A layer of resistive material and a layer of conducting termination material are each deposited on the unfired substrate. The organic materials in the substrate and its termination and resistive layers are substantially "burned out" prior to simultaneously co-firing the substrate and the deposited resistive and termination layers.In the case of fixed resistors, the element may be molded as a half-shell arranged to receive leads extending from opposite ends of the half-shell molding and attached by soldering or other means to the termination areas. A substantially identical cover member molded and fired from the same material as the substrate is adhesively attached to the substrate to complete the resistor.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a resistor element for fixed or variable resistors. The element comprises an insulating substrate injection molded from ceramic-glass frit material and organic binder and lubricating material and layers of resistive material and conducting termination material deposited on the unfired substrate. The organic materials in the substrate and its termination and resistive layers are substantially "burned out" prior to simultaneously co-firing the substrate and the deposited resistive and termination layers.The fixed resistor element may be molded as a half-shell arranged to receive leads extending from opposite ends thereof and attached by soldering to the termination areas. A substantially identical cover member molded and fired from the same material as the substrate is adhesively attached to the substrate to complete the resistor.The invention further contemplates the provision of attaching respective leads by means of forming a solder ball of low melting solder on one end of a solder coated lead and fastening this end by means of a hydrogen torch to the portion of the fixed resistor subassembly containing the termination material.

摘要: An electrical circuit package wherein a flexible support member having conductive materials and electronic components thereon is fused with a substrate which acts as a support for the film. This results in a unitary packaged circuit. In one embodiment the film is a decal on which certain portions have a substrate fused thereto. In other embodiments, various layers of conductive materials are applied and molded into the substrate to form a variety of electronic functions. The circuit package lends itself to high production and reliability as well as cost savings.

摘要: A trimmable resistor includes inner and outer resistive strips which are deposited on a base and spaced apart to form a gap. The outer strip is electrically connected at each end to one of a pair of spaced electrical terminals. A plurality of conductive members are spaced apart along the length of the gap and bridge the gap to connect the two resistive strips at a corresponding plurality of locations. The severing of successive frangible conductive members increases the resistance of the trimmer in increments. In a specific embodiment the resistive strips are formed of a cermet material, the base is an alumina substrate, the gap is arcuate, and a thermosetting plastic resin is disposed in the gap to form an insulating buffer pad for each of the frangible conductive members.
