Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing flame-retardant porous materials comprising the following steps: (a) reacting at least one polyfunctional isocyanate (a1) and at least one polyfunctional aromatic amine (a2) in an organic solvent optionally in the presence of water as component (a3) and optionally in the presence of at least one catalyst (a5); and then (b) removing the organic solvent to obtain the organic porous material, where step (a) is carried out in the presence of at least one organic flame retardant as component (a4), where this flame retardant is soluble in the solvent. The invention further relates to the porous materials thus obtainable, and also to the use of the porous materials for thermal insulation.

The present invention is directed to a process for preparing an inorganic aerogel, the process comprising the steps of providing a composition (I) suitable to form an inorganic gel with a gelation time tG, spraying the composition (I) into supercritical carbon dioxide at a spraying time tS to obtain gel particles, and drying the gel particles obtained in step (ii) by supercritical liquid extraction, wherein the ratio tS:tG is in the range of from 0.2 to 0.99. The present invention further is directed to the inorganic aerogel as such as well as the use of the inorganic aerogel according to the invention in particular for medical and pharmaceutical applications or for thermal insulation.

The present invention relates to a method of producing polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams which comprises the step of reacting a composition (Z1), comprising a composition (ZP) at least comprising a polyol and a catalyst that catalyzes the formation of a urethane, urea or isocyanurate bond, and a surfactant TD having an HLB value below 10 and no silicon atom, wherein the sum total of surfactants TD in the composition comprises from 0.05 to 10 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the composition (ZP), with at least one polyisocyanate, wherein the step of reacting takes place in the presence of a nucleating agent selected from the group consisting of perfluorinated hydrocarbons, ethers having at least one perfluorinated hydrocarbyl moiety and ketones having at least one perfluorinated hydrocarbyl moiety, and of a blowing agent, wherein the nucleating agent differs from the blowing agent, and wherein the nucleating agent and the blowing agent are mixed to obtain a composition (Z2) and said composition (Z2) is added to said composition (Z1) before the step of reacting with the at least one polyisocyanate. The present invention further relates to a stabilized composition (ZS) and also to a kit for preparing a stabilized composition (ZS) for producing a polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam, and to methods of producing polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams by reacting a stabilized composition of the present invention and/or a stabilized composition obtained or obtainable according to a method of the invention.

The present invention relates to a process for the production of a rigid polyurethane foam or rigid polyisocyanurate foam, comprising the reaction of at least one polyisocyanate and of a polyol composition (PZ), where the polyol composition (PZ) comprises at least one compound having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate groups and at least one compound (I) selected from the group consisting of dicarboxylic diesters of dicarboxylic acids having from 2 to 18 C atoms and tricarboxylic triesters of tricarboxylic acids having from 3 to 18 C atoms, where at least one blowing agent is used during the reaction. The present invention further relates to rigid polyurethane foams or rigid polyisocyanurate foams obtainable or obtained by such a process, and also to a polyol composition (PZ) at least comprising one compound having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate groups and at least one compound (I) selected from the group consisting of dicarboxylic diesters of dicarboxylic acids having from 2 to 18 C atoms and tricarboxylic triesters of tricarboxylic acids having from 3 to 18 C atoms. The present invention also relates to the use of such a polyol composition (PZ) for the production of rigid polyurethane foams or rigid polyisocyanurate foams, and also to the use of a rigid polyurethane foam or rigid polyisocyanurate foam of the invention as, or for the production of, insulation materials, preferably insulation sheets, sandwich elements, hot-water tanks, boilers, coolers, insulation foams, refrigerators or freezers.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing an insulating element for a tank comprising the steps of covering at least two surfaces of a mold with a metal foil; introducing a foam forming composition in the mold; and allowing a foam to form between the metal foils. The present invention further relates to the insulating element as such, an insulating assembly for a tank comprising insulating elements which are designed to fit closely to the periphery of the tank, wherein the insulating element is obtained or obtainable according to the process of the present invention; and also the use of said insulating assembly to insulate a tank, a tank wagon or a container.
