摘要: A pigment is mixed with an epoxy resin or varnish binder in a weight ratio from 5:1 to 6:1 to make a paste, which is then applied as a thin layer by screen printing on top of the counterelectrode layer previously baked onto a metal substrate. In another baking step the new layer for producing a reflective coating is heated to between 120.degree. and 180.degree. C., in which temperature range the binder produces small bubbles before hardening, so that the layer that is produced is permeable to ions when the layer becomes soaked with electrolyte in the assembled electrochromic device. The metal substrate is shaped by drawing to provide the electrolyte cavity after the application of the counterelectrode and the reflecting background layer thereon, since the deformation does not damage either of these layers.

摘要: The counterelectrode (16) of an electrochromic indicator device is made of a paste of activated carbon and an organic binder baked on a metal plate (15). The shape of the metal plate can be dished after the layer is baked on without damage. Activated carbon in the counterelectrode, operating with the usual electrolyte and a transition metal oxide electrochromic electrode, makes possible a high-charge density from migration of ions with the application of very small voltages. The electrochromic effect can be extinguished simply by a short-circuit, especially if polyvinyl alcohol is provided as a supplementary binder by dipping the baked counterelectrode therein and baking again, and even more so if the activated carbon paste contains finely divided gold from decomposition of a gold compound during baking. The counterelectrode layer can be applied by screen printing.

摘要: To assure a durable bonded joint between the two substrates on which the respective electrodes of an electrochromic device are joined together by an adhesive to form a cavity between them for an electrolyte, a baked-on layer of polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl butyral is provided to promote adhesion, allowing a commercially available two-component adhesive to provide a firm joint even if the non-transparent substrate is of metal. The adhesion promoting coating is also used to line the cavity, except where the electrodes are, thus providing insulation and chemical isolation which is important, at least for the metal substrate. The electrolyte is filled through a hole in the metal substrate, which is thereafter plugged with a low-melting solder. The metal foil of a circuit board can be used to provide the rear portions of a number of electrochromic indicators fitting against a common glass plate if cut-outs are provided in the circuit board into which the metal can be deformed to provide the necessary electrolyte cavities.

摘要: An optical sensor (5) for recording wetting of a surface (20) of a member (21), especially a window of a motor vehicle, having a transmitter (13), a receiver (14) and a retroreflector (11, 11′, 11″) for electromagnetic waves is proposed. The surface (20) of the member (21) has for this at least two sensing regions (12, 12′), which are exposed to electromagnetic waves originating from the transmitter (13) and coupled into the member (21) in a central region (10), the development of wetting on the sensing regions (12, 12′) effecting a change of the signal of the electromagnetic waves coupled out into the receiver (14) in the central region (10).For this, the retroreflector (11, 11′, 11″) is developed and positioned in such a way that it feeds back electromagnetic waves reflected by the surface (20) of the member (21) to the surface (20) of the member (21), and from there into the central region (10).

摘要: A method for the manufacture of optical components, at least one three-dimensional optical waveguide structure being produced in a light-sensitive substrate by locally subjecting the substrate to an exposure so that a difference in refractive index between the substrate and the at least one optical waveguide structure is created. Provision is made for an exposure to occur at least twice, at different angles of incidence for the light perpendicular to a light wave propagation direction of the optical waveguide structure; the substrate surrounding what will later be the optical waveguide structure thereby experiences a diminution in refractive index, the optical waveguide structure being defined using a mask.

摘要: The lighting device for a vehicle has at least one central reflector (10), which is formed as a substantially closed hollow body. The reflector (10) is formed from two reflector parts (11, 12), which have light outlet openings facing each other. The reflector parts (11, 12) are shaped like portions of an ellipsoid of revolution and are arranged so that their first focal points (Fl) coincide and their second focal points (F2) lie on the peak of the opposing reflector part (11, 12). The light emitting body (16) of the light source is arranged in the vicinity of the first focal points (F1). Because of this structure of the reflector (10) almost all of the light issuing from the light emitting body (16) is concentrated on the second focal points (F2) of the reflector parts. A light guide (18) is positioned to guide light away from each reflector part in the vicinity of its second focal point (F2). The light guide (18) conducts the light entering its end portion connected to the reflector (10) to a vehicle light outlet unit (19). The vehicle light outlet units (19) can have their own reflector (21) for collection and formation of the light beam from the light issuing from the light guide (18).
