Abstract: A monolithic conveyor belt structure comprising an elongate, substantially planar base belt having a pair of integrally formed, flexible, fabric reinforced, longitudinal sidewalls protruding from its top face. The integral construction prevents delamination of the sidewalls from the base belt, and the fabric reinforcement in the sidewalls strengthens the sidewalls against deterioration due to repeated flexure of the belt, and due to contact with pulleys, turn disks, sliding surfaces, etc. The belt may include cleats between the sidewalls, such as transverse paddles or upstanding nubs, to assist in conveying material on very steep inclines.

Abstract: A drive assembly for a multi-axle driven motor vehicle is disclosed herein. Abstract: A digital illumination and imaging system employing one or more planar laser illumination modules (PLIMs) each including: (i) a laser illumination source driven preferably by high frequency modulated (HFM) diode current drive circuitry; (ii) a beam collimating optics disposed beyond the laser source; (ii) an optical beam multiplexer (OMUX) device disposed beyond the collimating optics; and (iv) a planarizing-type illumination lens array disposed beyond the OMUX device, and arranged for generating a plurality of substantially planar coherence-reduced laser illumination beams (PLIBs) that form a composite substantially planar laser illumination beam (PLIB) having substantially reduced spatial/temporal coherence. A digital image detection array for detecting digital images of an object illuminated by the composite substantially planar laser illumination beam. By virtue of the present invention, the power of speckle pattern noise, observed in a digital image of an object detected at the digital image detection array, is substantially reduced when the digital image is formed using the substantially planar laser illumination beam.

Abstract: A digital image capture and processing system for automatically recognizing objects at a point of sale (POS) station. The system comprising a system housing having an imaging window, and containing a digital image capturing and processing engine including a plurality of coplanar illumination and imaging stations. The stations generate and project a complex of coplanar illumination and imaging planes through the imaging window, and within a 3D imaging volume definable relative to the imaging window for omni-directional imaging of objects passing through the 3D imaging volume, and generate digital linear images of the object as the object intersects coplanar illumination and imaging planes within the 3D imaging volume during system operation. A database is provided for storing one or more object libraries representing objects that can be recognized by the system. A digital image processing subsystem automatically (i) processes digital images generated by said coplanar illumination and imaging stations, (ii) extracts object features from processed digital images, and (iii) recognizes objects which are represented by the object libraries and producing information representative of recognized objects for display at the POS station.

Abstract: An automatically-activated code symbol reading system includes a hand-supportable housing having a light transmission aperture through which a field of view (FOV) passes; and an automatically-activated bar code symbol reading mechanism for repeatedly reading code symbols on an object in the FOV, within a predetermined time period, and in response to each new successful reading of the code symbols, producing a new symbol character data string representative of the read code symbol. A system control subsystem (i) automatically activates the automatically-activated bar code symbol reading mechanism in response to the detection of the object in at least a portion of the FOV, and (ii) automatically activates the data transmission circuit in response to the generation of the data transmission control activation signal so that a symbol character data string, produced currently with or immediately subsequent to the activation of the manually-activatable data transmission switch, is transmitted to a host system.
