    摘要: Petrochemicals are produced by the vapor phase reaction of a hydrocarbon with air in the presence of a suitable catalyst. The petrochemical product is removed from the product gas stream, and unreacted hydrocarbon in part or all of the remaining gas stream is recovered by subjecting the gas stream to a TSA process in which the adsorbed hydrocarbon is desorbed at elevated pressure by purging the adsorbent with hot compressed air, the air being heated by compression. The compressed air-desorbed hydrocarbon mixture is recycled to the reactor.

    摘要: Air is purified by being passed in sequence through a first, lower, bed of activated alumina particles which adsorb water vapor preferentially therefrom, and a second, upper, bed of zeolite 13X molecular sieve particles which adsorb carbon dioxide preferentially therefrom. The air passes upwardly through the first bed and downwardly through the second bed. Once fully loaded with the adsorbent components, the beds and are regenerated by the passage therethrough of hot regeneration gas. one part of the regeneration gas flows downwardly through the first bed; another part flows upwardly through the second bed. The hot regeneration gas causes the previously adsorbed components to be desorbed. Once regeneration has ended, and the beds have returned their adsorbing temperature, they may be used again to purify air.

    摘要: A petrochemical is produced by the vapor phase reaction of a hydrocarbon with air in the presence of a suitable catalyst. The petrochemical is removed from the reactor effluent, and part or all of the remaining petrochemical-free gas stream is passed through a hydrocarbon-selective adsorbent, which adsorbs hydrocarbon from the gas stream, leaving a hydrocarbon-depleted waste gas. Hydrocarbon is purged from the adsorbent with air, and the air-hydrocarbon mixture is recycled to the partial oxidation reactor. The purge air, and preferably both the purge air and the petrochemical-free gas stream are dried by passage through beds of zeolite 3A prior to being introduced into the hydrocarbon-selective adsorbent, and the beds of zeolite 3A are regenerated by passing heated hydrocarbon-depleted waste gas therethrough.

    摘要: A method of separating a first gaseous component from a gas mixture comprising a first gaseous component and a second gaseous component comprising passing the gaseous mixture into an adsorption zone containing an adsorbent material capable of preferentially adsorbing at least one of the gaseous components in the gaseous mixture, to separate the first gaseous component from the second gaseous component wherein the adsorbent material is a monolithic wheel having a plurality of channels throughout, the channels being aligned parallel to the direction of flow of the gaseous mixture and having a wall thickness of less than 1 mm and recovering the non-preferentially adsorbed gaseous component from the adsorption zone. Preferably, the adsorption zone comprises multiple layers of monolithic structures in the shape of a wheel stacked one upon the other in a direction parallel to the direction of the flow of the gaseous mixture and formed by spirally winding a sheet of corrugated adsorbable material about a hub.
