摘要:
Provided are novel biocompatible copolymers and compositions comprising the copolymers. The copolymers and degradation products thereof are non-toxic and typically have an LCST between room temperature and 37° C. so that they are liquid at room temperature and gelled at 37° C. which facilitates their use in humans, for example for wound treatment and as a cellular growth matrix or niche. The copolymer comprises numerous ester linkages in its backbone so that the copolymers are erodeable in situ. Degradation products of the polymer are soluble and non-toxic. The copolymer is amine-reactive so that it can conjugate with proteins, such as collagen. Active ingredients, such as drugs, can be incorporated into compositions comprising the copolymer.

Provided herein is a biodegradable elastomeric patch that can be implanted on a heart or other portions of the cardiovascular system to repair tissue deficiencies or tissue damage. The biodegradable elastomeric patch may be engineered to have mechanical properties similar to that of soft tissue and to provide mechanical support to the damaged tissue. The biodegradable elastomeric patch also may comprise therapeutic agents to aid in the healing process. Methods also are provided for using a biodegradable elastomeric patch for treating patients suffering from tissue damage or tissue deficiencies in the cardiac or cardiovascular system.
摘要:
Provided herein is a biohybrid elastomeric scaffold comprising a synthetic polymeric component and a biological polymeric component. The scaffold can be fabricated to have many different forms, non-limiting examples of which include a non-woven fibrous mesh or in a porous composite. Methods of use of the biohybrid elastomeric scaffolds in wound healing and tissue regeneration are also provided.

Provided are tubular structures of a biocompatible, triggerably-dissolvable material such as cellulose or a copolymer having an LCST below physiological temperatures. The structures may be embedded within a cell growth scaffold. The tubular structures are useful in growing 3-dimensional tissue structures because nutrients, cytokines or other cell growth and/or differentiation compounds, as well as drugs, such as antibiotics and steroids, can be administered over time, and the tubular structures can be dissolved non-invasively.
