    摘要: A method is described for the polymerization of isobutylene and, in particular, the copolymerization of isobutylene and isoprene to produce butyl rubber, by contacting the monomers with a catalyst prepared from: (a) an organoaluminum compound (e.g. Al(C.sub.2 H.sub.5).sub.2 Cl) and (b) a compound represented by the formula X'.sub.n M.sub.e Y.sub.m in which X' is a halogen atom; Y is oxygen, sulphur or a functional group selected from the alkoxies, esters, amides, simple or substituted alkyls, cycloalkyls, aromatics, arenes, phosphines, acetylacetones and oximes; Me is an element selected from Ti, Sn, Zn, B, Al, Hg, Pb, W, Sb, Ge, V, Zr, As, Bi and Mo; n and m are whole numbers whose sum equals the valence of Me except where Y is oxygen or sulphur, when the valency equals 2m + n, (e.g. Ti(O nC.sub.4 H.sub.9)Cl.sub.3), in a liquid reaction medium constituted by an aliphatic, aromatic, cycloaliphatic or halogenated hydrocarbon such as methyl chloride, and at a temperature in the range from -100.degree. to 30.degree.C.

C in the presence of a catalyst system including:(a) a compound selected from the group consisting of: AlCl.sub.3, AlBr.sub.3, AlEtCl.sub.2, TiCl.sub.4, SnCl.sub.4, SiCl.sub.4, VCl.sub.4, BF.sub.3, Al.sub.2 Et.sub.3 Cl.sub.3, SbCl.sub.5, SbF.sub.5, FeCl.sub.3, VOCl.sub.3, ZrCl.sub.4, AlI.sub.3, GaCl.sub.3 ; and(b) a compound adapted to react with the compounds of group (a) and selected from the group consisting of: SnR.sub.4, SnRX.sub.3, SrR.sub.4, TiX.sub.2 (OR).sub.2, Ti(OR).sub.4, PbR.sub.4, Ti(OR)X.sub.3, VO(OR).sub.3, Ti(OR).sub.3 X, (C.sub.5 H.sub.5).sub.2 Ti(C.sub.6 H.sub.5).sub.2, (C.sub.5 H.sub.5).sub.2 Ti(CH.sub.3).sub.2, Ti(Acac).sub.4, SnCl.sub.2 (acetate).sub.2 in which R is a hydrocarbon radical with from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and X is a halogen atom.The process is of particular value in the production of butyl rubber through the copolymerization of isobutylene and isoprene.

    摘要: There is disclosed the coating of a metallic substrate with a cross-linked polymeric film by contacting the substrate with an aqueous composition containing:at least an acrylic or metacrylic compound which can be defined by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein: R is a straight-line or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, either saturated or unsaturated containing from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, or a cycloaliphatic or an aromatic group;R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, equal to or different from one another, are straight-line or branched alkyl groups, either saturated or unsaturated and containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or cycloaliphatic or aromatic groups;at least one unsaturated organic acid capable of being copolymerized with the compound (I), in an amount of from 5 to 40 parts by weight per 100 parts of the compound (I) or an organic or a mineral acid which cannot be copolymerized with the compound (I) in an amount of from 1 to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts of the compound (I), anda polymerization catalyst preferably selected from among the persulphates, the hydroperoxides, the peracids H.sub.2 O.sub.2 and the peroxides.A metallic substrate coated by the composition of polymeric nature as described above is then heated to a temperature equal to, or lower than 180.degree. C. approximately and for the time which is necessary to originate a polymeric film cross-linked upon said substrate.A film so deposited exhibits optimum properties as to adherence, resistance to bending and shocks and resistance to the saline mist.

    摘要: A class of soluble polymers of high molecular weight is disclosed whose members are: copolymers of polycyclic polyenes containing two conjugated double bonds which are members of the group consisting of a) polycyclic polyenes having an endomethylenic system orthocondensed with another hydrocarbon ring wherein the two common carbon atoms form a part of a conjugated diene system whose double bonds are located inside the non-endomethylenic ring, b) polyenes presenting an alkylidene group conjugated with a double bond of a ring which forms a part of an endocyclic system, and c) orthocondensed polycyclic polyenes substituted with an alkylidene type ring whose double bond is conjugated with a double bond of one of the cycles; and homopolymers of at least one of said polycyclic polyenes with at least one other conjugated diene. They may be prepared by reacting the selected monomers in the presence of a cationic catalyst selected from the halides of metals of the second to eighth groups of the periodic system and the alkyl derivatives thereof, which may be complexed with water, alcohols, acids, ethers or alkylhalides.

    摘要: A process for preparing hydrocarbonaceous resins from C.sub.5 fractions is disclosed in which the starting hydrocarbonaceous fraction is enriched with cis-piperylene. A catalyst system is also disclosed for the formation of the resins by polymerization and the simplest catalyst is an aluminum halide. In other embodiments, the aluminum halide is used together with a second component such as a hydrocarbyl halide and/or a halide of a metal selected from Sn, Si, B, Ti, Pb, Sb, As and others. Resins having improved physico-chemical properties are obtained.
