Abstract:
Novel dihydrobenzothiophenes prepared via condensation of arylthiols and carbonyl or epoxide containing reagents have been found to be effective antioxidant and antiwear additives in lubricant applications. These additives are made from relatively low cost mercaptans and carbonyl compounds in a one-step high yield reaction.
Abstract:
Phenolic imidazolines prepared via one-step condensation of hydrocarbylpolyamino-phenols and carbonyl generating species have been found to be effective antioxidants in lubricant applications. These additives are derived from a one-step reaction using low cost phenolic amines and carbonyl compounds. In addition to their antioxidant activity, they are, because of the presence of the cyclic imidazoline groups, also expected to exhibit corrosion inhibiting and metal passivating activity.
Abstract:
The air release rate of lubricating compositions is significantly enhanced when the composition is formulated with one or more vinyl aromatic-olefin block copolymers that forms a micelle-like structure in the oil. Compositions having the specified copolymers retain less than about 2.5% air after 1 min. at 50° C. when tested by ASTM D 3427.

Abstract:
Disclosed are sulfur and phosphorous free, borated organomolybdenum compositions containing borated alcohols. These compositions can be formulated with ashless antioxidants and low levels of phosphorous containing antiwear compounds to provide improved lubricating compositions.
Abstract:
Polyalkylene amine coupled heterocyclic compounds are effective multifunctional additives, providing cleanliness to fuels and lubricants as well as anti-wear, friction-modifying, thermal and oxidative stabilizing properties. The beneficial effects of the product of the instant invention apparently result from an internal synergism between the polyalkylene amine groups and the heterocyclic groups.
Abstract:
Organic triazole-derived carboxylic acid-esters, and ester-amide-amine salts have been found to be effective antiwear additives for lubricants and are highly useful in fuels.
Abstract:
Reaction products of hydrocarbylsuccinic anhydrides, hydroxyl-containing amines and triazoles have been found to be effective antirust, antioxidant, anti-corrosion, antiwear, dispersant/detergent and thermal color stabilizing additives.
Abstract:
Alkoxylated- or polyalkoxylate-amine-phosphite derived olefin adducts are superior as lubricating fluid media and as multifunctional additives with internal synergistic antioxidant and extreme pressure/antiwear properties for both mineral and synthetic lubricating oils as well as fuels.
Abstract:
An ester-containing reaction product of a carbonyl compound, preferably an acyl halide and a thiodiphenol has high temperature antioxidant properties. The reaction product is useful as a synthetic lubricant base fluid or as an antioxidant additive when used in minor amounts of 0.01 to 10 wt. % in a mineral oil or hydrocracked oil lubricant base fluid. The reaction product can also be used in a fuel.
Abstract:
Sulfur-containing ester derivatives of arylamines and hindered phenols have been found to be effective antioxidant and antiwear additives for lubricants.
