    摘要: The improved DNA base sequencer comprising an electrophoresis plate having a gel electrolyte layer held between two glass plates, one of which is partially cut away on the top edge in the direction of width, an assay compartment for accommodating said electrophoresis plate in a vertically erect position, a lower reservoir of a buffer solution in which the lower part of the gel electrolyte layer in the electrophoresis plate is to be immersed, an upper reservoir of a buffer solution in which the upper part of said electrolyte layer is to be immersed, photoexciting laser light applying means by which laser light is emitted from a lateral side of the electrophoresis plate in such a way that it crosses the lanes in said plate at right angles, and fluorescence detecting means by which the fluorescence emitted from a DNA fragment illuminated with the laser light is picked up and converted to an electric signal, and the apparatus is characterized in that a sharkstoothcomb made of a water-swellable material is inserted from the top edge of said electrophoresis plate into the space between the two glass plates, either the top or bottom edge of said sharkstoothcomb being provided with a plurality of teeth which are each tapered from the root toward the tip. Using this apparatus, samples can be easily and yet positively injected at specified lane positions on the gel electrolyte layer.

The test reagent container includes: a bottom part; a peripheral wall raised approximately perpendicularly from a periphery of the bottom part; and a storage part defined by the bottom part and peripheral wall. A projecting part is formed on the bottom part in a projecting manner toward outside the container. A proximal end of the projecting part is formed in a bendable manner relative to the bottom part, and an easily breakable part is formed on a periphery of the projecting part except for the proximal end of the projecting part. The easily breakable part is broken when the projecting part is depressed from outside the container to be pushed into the inside of the container to form a discharge port.

    摘要: The micro-channel chip for electrophoresis of the present invention comprises a first substrate formed of a gas-permeable material and a second substrate formed of a gas-permeable or a gas-impermeable material, the first and the second substrate being glued together, the mating surface of either one of the first and second substrates having a sample-feeding channel having a port at both ends and an electrophoretic channel also having a port at both ends, the sample-feeding channel and the electrophoretic channel being allowed to communicate with each other via a narrower channel having a smaller cross-sectional area than those two channels. The micro-channel chip for electrophoresis of the present invention requires only one power source to perform electrophoresis and can use samples with minimum waste of their quantity.

    摘要: The improved DNA base sequencer comprises a flat plate type gel electrophoretic means that has a multiple of tracks for electrophoresing DNA fragments and which is held in a vertical position, a light exciting laser light applying means that applies laser light to the respective tracks in said electrophoretic means from one lateral side thereof in such a way that it crosses said tracks at right angles, and a fluorescence detecting means that detects the fluorescence as generated from the DNA fragments illuminated with the laser light and which converts the detected fluorescence to an electric signal, and it is characterized in that the fluorescence detecting means comprises an index-distributed lens array, a filter and a solid-state imaging device such as a CCD line sensor. This apparatus uses light-receiving optics that does not include a large and expensive optical device such as an image intensifier and which yet is capable of efficient fluorescence detection without "smiling" and other adverse effects.

    摘要: There is provided by the present invention a novel micro passage chip having such a structure that a fluid can be transferred without using a physical or mechanical squeezing means that is applied from above the substrate of the micro passage chip.
