    摘要: The object of this invention is to elucidate the factors involved in the regulation of AGE (advanced glycation endproducts, which are produced in a living body accompanied with diabetes and aging) and RAGE (the receptor for AGE), in order to facilitate investigation on the biological activities, physiological phenomenon and diseases related to AGE and RAGE. Plural molecular species are known to exist for RAGE, and among such molecular species, soluble RAGE exhibits the activity to modulate interaction between AGE and transmembrane-type RAGE. Using this soluble RAGE or a nucleic acid encoding it, the soluble RAGE can be measured, in addition, investigation on various physiological phenomenon, biological activities, and diseases related to interaction between AGE and RAGE can be performed to facilitate development a medicine having further efficacy.

    摘要: An exhaust gas purifying device for use with a diesel engine comprising a filter block disposed in an engine exhaust passage for collecting exhaust gas particulates, and a heater for incinerating the collected exhaust gas particulates. The filter block has parallel channels defined therein and separated from one another by porous partition walls, some of the channels being closed at their inlet ends with blind plugs while the other channels are closed at their outlet ends with blind plugs. The heater is supported by the blind plugs.

    摘要: A method for evaluating the caking property of sodium hydrogencarbonate crystal particles, characterized in that sodium hydrogencarbonate crystal particles are hermetically sealed in a packaging material having a water vapor transmission rate of at least 3 g/(m2·24h) (at 40° C. with a relative humidity difference of 90%) as stipulated in JIS K7129 and left at rest at a temperature of from 17 to 35° C. at a carbon dioxide gas concentration of from 0.03 to 0.05 vol % at a relative humidity of from 40 to 95% for from 2 weeks to 3 months, and the proportion of agglomerated sodium hydrogencarbonate crystal particles is determined to evaluate the caking tendency. A novel test method for evaluating the caking property of sodium hydrogencarbonate crystal particles, capable of providing results of the caking property test with high reproducibility, quantitatively with high versatility, can be provided.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine is provided in its exhaust system with a particulate filter for trapping combustible particulates contained in exhaust gas. A combustion promoting material injection device is provided for injecting a material for promoting combustion of the combustible particulates into the exhaust system upstream of the particulate filter. Further there are provided a bypass exhaust passage which bypasses the combustion promoting material injection device and the particulate filter, and a flow control valve which controls the amount of exhaust gas flowing through the bypass exhaust passage to control the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter when said combustion promoting material is to be injected from the injecting device. When the combustion promoting material is injected, the flow control valve controls the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter so that the combustion promoting material can uniformly adhere to the surface of the combustible particulates over the entire area thereof and so that the combustion temperature of the combustible particulates is prevented from rising abnormally high.
