Different data rates can be delivered to a subscriber premises depending on the size of the display screen connected to a set-top box, the type of content being requested, or whether there is real-time viewing. Therefore, the data rate can be optimized to maximize the number of video streams that can be delivered to any one subscriber without causing a perceived reduction in video picture quality.

摘要： An apparatus for dissipating energy into the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine includes a container for confining a flow path for exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine where the container has an inlet and an outlet. A porous, electrically conductive mesh is placed in the container such that exhaust gas can flow through the conductive mesh. At least two electrical terminals are in permanent electrical contact with the conductive mesh. An electrical power supply completes an electrical circuit through the conductive mesh with the power supply having two or more electrical outputs electrically connected to an equal number of electrical terminals on the conductive mesh. The apparatus provides a filter, heater, electrical load and silencer.

摘要： A pallet is disclosed for use with an order picker truck equipped with a pair of tines and a pallet clamp between the tines. The pallet has a deck with upper and lower surfaces, first and second tine channels on the lower surface, first and second tine clamps, and an actuator means in communication with the tine clamps. The actuator means is movable between an open and closed position by the order picker truck pallet clamp, whereby moving the actuator to the closed position moves the tine clamps to the clamping position. A spring in communication with the tine clamps urges the clamps towards their retracted position.

摘要： A cart or man-portable system and method for performing endoscopic procedures is provided. A portable display device, such as a laptop computer, is coupled to a handle comprising a miniature camera and fiber optic illumination subsystem. A sterile disposable portion is fitted over the illumination subsystem and inserted into a target area on a patient. Images of the target area are conveyed from the camera to the display device while an endoscopic procedure is performed, thus facilitating real-time diagnosis during the procedure.

摘要： A multi-layer thin film structure having defined repair lines thereon and a method for repairing interconnections in the multi-layer thin film structure (MLTF) and/or making engineering charges (EC) are provided. The method comprises determining any interconnection defects in the MLTF at a thin film layer adjacent the top metal layer of the structure, using lithography, e.g., direct write expose technology, to define the top surface connections needed to repair the interconnections and/or make EC's, and forming the top surface metallization and repair lines using additive or substractive metallization techniques.

摘要： Method and apparatus for application profiling in a multi-device data storage array. In accordance with various embodiments, a storage array is formed of independent data storage devices that form a fast pool and a slow pool of said devices, such as solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard disc drives (HDDs). A controller is adapted to migrate a distributed data set stored across a first plurality of the devices in the slow pool to a second plurality of said devices in the fast pool. The controller carries out the migration responsive to a hint that a selected application is about to be executed that utilizes the distributed data set, and responsive to a return on investment (ROI) determination that an estimated cost of said migration will be outweighed by an overall improved data transfer capacity of the storage array over a predetermined minimum payback period of time.
