The instant invention is directed to a process for the preparation of glass constructions comprising applying to glass, compositions comprising(a) a polyisocyanate component and(b) a polyol component comprising at least one dihydroxy polyester carbonate with a molecular weight of from 800 to 3000 which is a reaction product of hexanediol-(1,6) with .epsilon.-caprolactone and/or .epsilon.-hydroxycaproic acid, in a molar ratio of hexanediol-(1,6) to .epsilon.-caprolactone and/or .epsilon.-hydroxycaproic acid of from 4:1 to 1:3, and diaryl carbonates, which reaction product is optionally present as a mixture with up to 40% by weight, based on the total quantity of said polyol component, of other polyols with molecular weights of from 62 to 4000, optionally containing ester groups,the quantities of the said components corresponding to an isocyanate index of from 80 to 130, or compositions comprising(c) an isocyanate prepolymer based on said polyols, optionally present in admixture with other polyisocyanates, and optionally(d) free- or blocked-diamine chain-lengthening agents.

The present invention is concerned with a hydrocurable composition suitable for use as coatings, adhesives or grouts. The composition contains oxazolidine compounds and free isocyanate group containing prepolymers. The prepolymers are obtained by the reaction of polyisocyanates with special types of dispersions wherein the dispersed phase is synthesized in situ in a dispersing media of polyhydroxyl compounds. The dispersed phase may be a free radical addition polymer, an aminoplast polycondensate or a polyisocyanate addition product. In the last case, the non-isocyanate reactants used to form the dispersed phase are substantially more reactive with isocyanates than the dispersing media. An especially preferred composition is based on urethane oxazolidines and prepolymers of aliphatic or cycloaliphatic isocyanates with dispersions of isocyanate hydrazine or hydrazine hydrate condensates in polyhydroxy-polyethers having molecular weights of 200 to 16,000.

The present invention is directed to a process for the preparation of polyisocyanates containing urethane groups in which the content in monomeric starting diisocyanate is at most 0.4% by weight by reacting in a urethane-forming reaction(a) an excess quantity, based on component (b), of a diisocyanate component containing at least one aromatic diisocyanate which is free from urethane groups with(b) a polyol component containing at least one polyhydric alcohol in the molecular weight range of 62 to about 250followed by distillative removal of the unreacted excess starting diisocyanate (a), characterized in that before the distillative removal of the excess starting diisocyanate (a) is carried out,(c) an aliphatic polyisocyanate containing isocyanurate groups is incorporated in the urethane-containing reaction product of components (a) and (b) in a quantity of about 0.3 to 10% by weight, based on the undistilled reaction product of components (a) and (b), and the distillation residue is then optionally dissolved in an inert solvent and up to about 0.5 equivalents of an alcohol, per kg of solvent-free distillation residue on a solvent free basis is added to the resulting solution so that the amount of free starting diisocyanate (a) is further reduced and urethane groups are formed.The present invention is also directed to the polyisocyanates containing urethane groups obtained by this process.
