    摘要: An ion-exchange media comprising a modified polysaccharide material and a modified particulate polymeric material, said modified materials comprising a polysaccharide and particulate polymeric materials covalently bonded to a synthetic polymer, said synthetic polymer comprising a copolymer made from a polymerization of:(a) a polymerizable compound having a chemical group capable of covalently coupling, directly or indirectly, to said materials; and(b) a polymerizable compound containing (i) an ionizable chemical group or (ii) a chemical group capable of transformation to an ionizable chemical group.The media is useful to selectively remove heavy metal contaminants from aqueous solutions containing said contaminants.

    摘要: A filter media is provided which comprises an amount of particulate immobilized in a substantially inert porous matrix. A least a portion of the particulate surface has thereon a divalent metal peroxide. The metal peroxide is magnesium peroxide or calcium peroxide, preferably magnesium peroxide.The filter media is preferably used for oxidizing and removing soluble iron and manganese from an aqueous fluid. The filter may also be used for removing and inactivating microorganisms from fluids, e.g. aqueous fluids. Particulate filter aid having coated or adsorbed on the surface the aforementioned metal peroxide may be used as the particulate in the filter media, as well as the metal peroxide in particulate form.

    摘要: A method for the production of a hydrolytically stable nylon membrane includes providing a nylon having at least about 0.9 moles of amino end groups per mole of nylon and preparing the nylon membrane therefrom. The membrane can be used in cartridges for use in filtration applications as may be necessary in the food and beverage industry as well as for the production of pharmaceuticals and the manufacture of electronic components. The membrane is capable of withstanding autoclaving and hot water sanitization without molecular dissociation regardless of its pore size, or thickness of the membrane, or the nylon solids content of the dope or, the temperature at which the dope is made.
