    摘要: Quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers and their use in coating applications are disclosed. The quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers are prepared from reacting a polyglycidyl ether of a cyclic polyol with a tertiary amine in the presence of a sufficient amount of water for the formation of quaternary hydroxide groups.The quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers are particularly good as electrocoating resins in that they electrodeposit without generating acid counterion. They are also good in other conventional coating applications such as dip, flow, spray and roll coating in that the resulting coating can be baked without the generation of corrosive acid.

    摘要: A high solids, organic solvent based, sprayable coating composition which is capable of acid catalyzed crosslinking is composed of an active hydrogen-containing resin, a curing agent present externally and/or internally as a part of the active hydrogen-containing resin; and a catalytic amount of a non-ionic ester of a sulfonic acid.     摘要: Quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers and their use in cationic electrodeposition are disclosed. The quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers are particularly useful as feed resins for controlling the pH of aqueous dispersions of acidified cationic resins used in electrodeposition. Upon electrodeposition, such resins generate acid which can build up to undesirable levels in the electrodeposition bath. The quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers are strong bases and when fed into the bath react with the acid to form the corresponding quaternary ammonium salt. This controls the pH of the bath at acceptable levels and provides additional cationic resin for electrodeposition. Utilizing the invention in this manner minimizes the need for controlling acid build-up in the electrodeposition bath by conventional techniques such as by treating the bath with ultrafiltration or electrodialysis.The quaternary ammonium hydroxide-containing polymers are also useful as electrodeposition resins themselves in that they electrodeposit without generating acid counter ion.
