Abstract:
The invention provides monolayer films excellent in hydrophilicity and transparency which include a crosslinked resin having a surface enriched with hydrophilic groups, and materials which exhibit excellent properties such as hydrophilicity, antifogging properties and antifouling properties by virtue of having the above monolayer films. A monolayer film is fabricated which includes a crosslinked resin obtained by polymerizing a composition including a compound (I) having an anionic hydrophilic group and a functional group with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond, and a compound (II) having three or more hydroxyl groups and three or more functional groups with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond, the monolayer film having a gradient (Sa/Da) of not less than 1.1 wherein Sa is the surface concentration of the anionic hydrophilic groups in the monolayer film, and Da is the deep concentration of the hydrophilic groups at ½ of the thickness of the monolayer film.
Abstract:
A water reducible resin composition, a water reducible admixture of such resin with solvents and plasticizers, a water reduced form of such mixture suitable for a coating, and a coating prepared from such water reduced mixture. Said resin is required to be prepared from a balance of hydrophobic enhancing and hydrophilic enhancing monomers. Generally such hydrophobic enhancing monomers are required to be a balance of monomers promoting hard and soft segments of the resin.
Abstract:
Acrylic ester polymers having reactive functional groups are admixed in latex form with a combination of a melamine-formaldehyde and a urea-formaldehyde thermoset resin to provide stable latex coating compositions. The compositions provide upon cure water and chemical resistant coatings for hardboard and other surfaces.

Powder coating compositions are disclosed. In general, individual powder coating compositions of this invention are a mixture of the following materials. A copolymer of an Alpha , Beta unsaturated carboxylic acid and an ethylenically unsaturated compound is formed in such proportions as to obtain a copolymer with a glass transition temperature in the range of 40*C to 90*C and a molecular weight (Mn) in the range of 2,500 to 8,500. The Alpha , Beta -unsaturated carboxylic acid is present in the copolymer from at least about 3 percent by weight to not more than about 10 percent by weight. Another material of the coating composition is an epoxy resin in the amount of 0.8 to 1.1 epoxy groups for each carboxy group in the copolymer. A third material utilized in forming the powder coating mixture is a flow control agent which forms at least 0.05 percent by weight of the mixture. The flow control agent is a polymer having a molecular weight (Mn) of at least 1,000. The flow control agent also has a glass transition temperature at least 50*C below the glass transition temperature of the copolymer.

Abstract:
An outdoor marking product comprising a chlorophyll-based agent for highlighting living greenery. The chlorophyll-based agent can be non-detrimental to the health of the living greenery. When viewed by a viewer at a minimum predefined viewing distance, the living greenery treated with the chlorophyll-based agent can be visibly distinguishable from and shinier than neighboring untreated living greenery. When the viewer is nearer than the minimum predefined viewing distance, the difference in shine and color between the treated living greenery and the untreated living greenery can be substantially unnoticeable.

Abstract:
A composition suitable for forming surface coatings, laminates or composite materials formed by bringing together:(a) a first polymer containing carboxylic acid, anhydride or acid chloride groups,(b) an amine or alcohol or a derivative thereof which is a tertiary amine, a ketimine, an acetal or an oxazolidine and(c) a second polymer capable of cross-linking with the first polymer in the presence of the amine or alcohol. The components may be initially in two packs and either mixed prior to application or sprayed onto the surface simultaneously from separate nozzles. The surface coatings are particularly suitable for coating surfaces which are otherwise difficult to coat and protect and may be applied to wet or rusted surfaces without surface preparation.
