    摘要: A method of controlling an internal combustion engine when the engine is operating in an engine braking mode is provided. The engine operates in the engine braking mode and an exhaust valve for the cylinder is prematurely opened to dissipate power. The method includes controlling airflow to at least one cylinder based on a comparison of a desired mass airflow rate and an actual mass airflow rate such that the actual mass airflow rate tracks the desired mass airflow rate.

    摘要: An ultrasound system for inspecting an object is provided. The ultrasound system includes an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) and a pulser-receiver system. The EMAT is configured to generate acoustic signals representative of the area being inspected and comprises a flux concentrating non-conductive pole piece separating a radio frequency (RF) coil and a magnet. The pulser-receiver system is coupled to the EMAT and configured to receive the acoustic signals and convert the acoustic signal to electrical signals.

The method includes generating a time-varying eddy current in a wall of the metal object utilizing a pulsed-signal transmitter. In particular embodiments, nucleic acid fragments having adaptors, e.g., suitable for use in high-throughput DNA sequencing are generated. In other embodiments, information about a reaction mixture is encoded into a reaction product. Also described herein are methods and kits useful for amplifying one or more target nucleic acids in preparation for applications such as bidirectional nucleic acid sequencing. In particular embodiments, methods of the invention entail additionally carrying out bidirectional DNA sequencing. Also described herein are methods for encoding and detecting and/or quantifying alleles by primer extension.
