    摘要: As associative thickener obtainable by free radical polymerization, the preparation thereof and the use thereof in paper coating slips are described. The associative thickener is formed from (a) acid monomers selected from ethylenically unsaturated C3- to C8-carboxylic acids, (b) associative monomers of the general formula H2C═CR1—COO(EO)n—(PO)m—R2, in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl, n is a number of at least two, m is a number from zero to 50, EO is an ethylene oxide group, PO is a propylene oxide group and R2 is a C8-C30-alkyl group or a C8-C30-alkaryl group, and (c) nonionic, copolymerizable monomers differing from a) and b), the reaction product having been reacted, after the polymerization, with initiators forming nonionic radicals.

    摘要: Aqueous dispersions of crosslinked emulsion polymers comprising tertiary ester groups, comprising (a) at least 50% by weight of an ester derived from a tertiary alcohol and an ethylenically unsaturated C3 to C5 carboxylic acid, (b) 0.001% to 5.0% by weight of at least one compound having at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bonds, and (c) 0% to 49.999% by weight of at least one other monoethylenically unsaturated compound in interpolymerized form and having an average particle size of not more than 1000 nm, and water-absorbing materials obtainable by coating a backing material with the aqueous dispersion described of crosslinked emulsion polymers comprising tertiary ester groups, drying and heating the thus treated backing material to a temperature of at least 140° C. to form carboxyl groups from the tertiary ester groups of the emulsion polymer and at least partly neutralizing the carboxyl groups, and also the use of the water-absorbing materials as an absorbent for water and aqueous fluids.

    摘要: Paper or cardboard packaging produced from recycled paper contaminated by mineral oil, where the packaging includes a barrier layer obtained by applying an aqueous polymeric dispersion containing a mixture of at least two polymers A and B. Polymer A is obtained by emulsion polymerization of C1-C4 alkyl(meth)acrylates, acid monomers, e.g., acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, 0-20 wt % of acrylonitrile and 0-10 wt % of further monomers, where the glass transition temperature of copolymer A is greater than +45° C. and the glass transition temperature of polymer B is less than +10° C. The mean value calculated from the glass transition temperatures of the individual polymers is +10 to +45° C. The barrier layer may be situated on one of the surfaces of the packaging or form one of multiple layers of a multilayered packaging coating or be situated as a coating on one side of an inner bag situated within the packaging.

The polymer foil is either coated with an aqueous dispersion comprising a dispersed polyelectrolyte complex previously produced by water-in-water emulsion polymerization, or is coated with a composition comprising a polyelectrolyte complex produced from anionic polymer and from cationic surfactant, or the polymer foil is coated with at least three alternating layers, where respectively one of two adjacent layers comprises an anionic polyelectrolyte component and the other of two adjacent layers comprises a cationic polyelectrolyte component, and polyelectrolyte complexes form at the opposite, adjacent interfaces of the alternating layers.
