Abstract:
A coated polymer foil is described and can be produced via coating of a polymer foil with an aqueous composition comprising (A) a polymer which is obtained via free-radical polymerization and which is composed of from 10 to 80% by weight of a compound selected from ethylenically unsaturated anhydrides and ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids, the carboxylic acid groups of which can form an anhydride group, and (B) an alkanolamine having at least two hydroxy groups. The coating gives the polymer foil an oxygen barrier and can in particular be used for producing packaging.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Described is paper or cardboard packaging produced from mineral oil contaminated, recycled paper, wherein the packaging includes a barrier layer obtainable by applying an aqueous polymeric dispersion comprising a copolymer obtainable by emulsion polymerization of C1-C4 alkyl (meth)acrylates, acid monomers, e.g., acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, 0-20 wt % of acrylonitrile and 0 to 10 wt % of further monomers, wherein the glass transition temperature of the copolymer is in the range from +10 to +45° C. The barrier layer may be situated on one of the surfaces of the packaging or form one of multiple layers of a multilayered packaging coating or be situated as a coating on one side of an inner bag situated within the packaging.
Abstract:
A description is given of the use of a polymer dispersion for preparing sound deadener compositions, the polymer dispersion being obtainable by emulsion polymerization of free-radically polymerizable monomers in the presence of at least one protective colloid which is an amphiphilic graft copolymer. Preferred protective colloids have a polyalkylene oxide main chain and vinyl ester-comprising side chains. A description is also given of corresponding sound deadener compositions which comprise the polymer dispersion, and of a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of vehicle components.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the production of a polymer powder with improved powder properties, and to its use as impact modifier for rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) applications. The impact modifier is composed of emulsion polymer particles which have a core-shell structure, where the shell is composed of a hard polymer and the core is composed of a soft, crosslinked rubber polymer.

Process for producing polymer foams derived from reactive polycondensation resins and having a maximum pore diameter of 1 μm, which comprises: 1) preparing a gelable mixture of the reactive polycondensation resin in a solvent or dispersion medium, 2) preparing an aqueous dispersion comprising polymer particles, 3) mixing the mixture from step 1) with the dispersion from step 2) to give a water-containing gel, and 4) drying the water-containing gel to give the polymer foam, with drying in step 4) being carried out at a pressure and a temperature which are below the critical pressure and below the critical temperature of the liquid phase of the gel and the gel not being brought into contact with an organic liquid to replace the water present in the gel by this liquid after step 3) and before step 4).

Abstract:
A description is given of an adhesive comprising two components, the first component comprising at least two different polymers of which at least one contains carboxyl groups. One of the polymers is selected from polymers which are capable of forming crystalline domains and copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate, and the second polymer is an amorphous polyurethane, the quantitative weight ratio of first polymer to second polymer being from 2:8 to 8:2. The second component comprises at least one silane compound that is reactive toward carboxyl groups. The adhesive can be used to produce film-laminated moldings for automobile construction which feature high resistance to climatic cycling.
