Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods provide for predicting a remaining useful life of semiconductors utilizing quantum sensors. A layer of 2-D material of the quantum sensor is excited via a microwave field source and a light source of a quantum sensor while also subject to a magnetic field, where the quantum sensor is located adjacent a semiconductor device. The excitation of the layer of 2-D material is sensed, via a photodetector of the quantum sensor. A magnetic field, a temperature, and/or a strain field effect of the semiconductor device are measured based on the sensed excitation of the layer of 2-D material. A remaining useful life of the semiconductor device is predicted based on one or more of the measured magnetic field, the measured temperature, or the measured strain field effect.

Abstract: An optical metasurface which shifts resonant frequency in response to changing temperature. The optical metasurface includes a membrane printed in a pattern from materials with a high coefficient of thermal expansion (“CTE”). The optical metasurface can include a plurality of high CTE fibers/structures in a first direction and a plurality of low CTE fibers/structures in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Alternatively, the high CTE substrate can include a plurality of high CTE fibers/structures in only a first direction. The high CTE substrate can include a plurality of high CTE fibers and a plurality of low CTE fiber in a pattern which creates desired sensing domains. An array of nanostructures is formed on the high CTE substrate. The array of nanostructures is designed to resonate with light transmitted through or impinging upon the optical metasurface. The resonant frequency of the response can be tuned thermally.

In particular, the present disclosure relates to an apparatus for performing an action associated with a driver input indicated via an input modality of an HMI of a vehicle, the apparatus comprising processing circuitry configured to receive initial data corresponding to an initial driver input via a first input modality of the HMI of the vehicle, compare a confidence level of the initial data to a confidence level threshold associated with the first input modality of the HMI of the vehicle, request, based on the comparison, a subsequent driver input via a second input modality of the HMI of the vehicle, determine a presence of an adverse condition within a vehicle environment, and perform an action associated with the subsequent driver input based on the presence of the adverse condition within the vehicle environment.

The Rankine cycle system includes a pump driving a working fluid through the Rankine cycle system, a heat exchanger receiving the working fluid from to the pump and connected to the power electronics to cool the power electronics, an evaporator heating the working fluid received from the heat exchanger utilizing heat from an exhaust gas from an engine, an expander receiving the working fluid from the evaporator, and a radiator cooling the working fluid received from the expander.

Abstract: The electric vehicle including one or more in-wheel motors, a battery electrically coupled to one or more in-wheel motors, a power electronics including a DC-AC inverter, a AC-DC inverter, and a boost converter that receives DC power from the battery and supplies AC power to the one or more in-wheel motors, and a generator electrically coupled to the battery via the power electronics. Further, it includes a Rankine cycle system including a pump, a first valve having an input, a first output, and a second output connected to the pump, the generator, and the one or more in-wheel motors, respectively. A second valve having a first input connects to the generator, a second input connects the one or more in-wheel motors and an output delivers the working fluid to the power electronics. An expander receives the working fluid from at least one of the power electronics.

Abstract: The present disclosure is related to utilizing contactless brainwave detectors to gather a user's unique electroencephalogram (EEG) data. EEG data, as well as an additional biometric, such as gait, can be used to determine whether users have access to enter a locked system, such as a door. An access list can be created and pre-registered with the EEG data and any additional biometric data of users who have access to enter the locked system. As the user nears the locked system, they can generate the EEG data to unlock the locked system by thinking of a pre-registered password stored in the access list.

Abstract: A system and a method for determining an object has been on a vehicle seat of a vehicle are provided. The processing circuitry may determine if passengers of the vehicle have left the vehicle. The processing circuitry may determine if a temperature of a vehicle cabin of the vehicle meets a threshold of temperature. The temperature of the vehicle cabin to a first temperature may be adjusted. A temperature of resistive filaments of the vehicle seat of the vehicle to a second temperature may be adjusted. A thermal image of the vehicle seat with a reference thermal image of the vehicle seat may be compared. The processing circuitry may determine if the object has been left on the vehicle seat.
