Provided are a photon up-conversion film, which is capable, of high-efficiency up-conversion even in air and even when low-intensity light is used, and a simple method of producing the film. The photon up-conversion film according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: a matrix including a resin; and a pore portion, wherein the photon up-conversion film includes at least a sensitizing component capable of absorbing light in a first wavelength region λ1, and a light-emitting component capable of radiating light in a second wavelength region λ2 including wavelengths shorter than those of the first wavelength region λ1, and wherein the sensitizing component and the light-emitting component are present at an interface between the matrix and the pore portion.

A method of producing an optical panel assembly including the polarizing film in a continuous manner by laminating a polarizing film to a surface of a rectangular-shaped optical panel, is disclosed. The polarizing film is formed by performing a step of subjecting a laminate including a continuous web of a thermoplastic resin substrate and a PVA type resin layer formed on the substrate, to a 2-stage stretching consisting of a preliminary in-air stretching and an in-boric-acid-solution stretching, to reduce a thickness of the PVA type resin layer to 10 μm or less, and a step of causing a dichroic material to be absorbed in the PVA type resin layer.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer-attached polarizing film of the invention includes: a polarizing film; and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the polarizing film, wherein the polarizing film includes a polarizer and a transparent protective film provided on only one side of the polarizer, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is provided on a side of the polarizer where the transparent protective film is absent, and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is made of a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition containing a (meth)acryl-based polymer (A) and an alkali metal salt (B). The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer-attached polarizing film has a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer with an antistatic function and satisfactory durability and whose optical properties are less likely to be degraded.

The present invention provides a thin polarizing film which has only a small environmental load and has excellent optical characteristics.The thin polarizing film is produced by forming a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer on a thermoplastic resin substrate. The thin polarizing film has a thickness of 10 μm or less, a single axis transmittance of 42.0% or more, a polarization degree of 99.95% or more, and an iodine content of 17.6 grams per 400×700 square millimeters or less, which is measured by an ion chromatography method.

A method of producing a roll of a continuous web of an optical film laminate, usable in a process of laminating an optical film sheet including a polarizing film and formed to a size corresponding to that an optical panel to a surface of the optical panel being fed to a lamination position, is disclosed. The polarizing film is prepared by subjecting a laminate including a thermoplastic resin substrate and a PVA type resin layer formed on the substrate, to uniaxial 2-stage stretching to reduce a thickness of the PVA type resin layer to 10 μm or less, and causing a dichroic material to be absorbed in the PVA type resin layer. A carrier film is releasably attached to the continuous web of optical film laminate including the polarizing film, through an adhesive layer. A defect inspection is performed for the optical film laminate and the adhesive layer.

A method of manufacturing a polarizing plate according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: stretching and dyeing a laminate having a resin substrate and a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer formed on at least one side of the resin substrate to produce a polarizing film on the resin substrate; laminating an optically functional film on the laminate on a polarizing film side to produce an optically functional film laminate; and peeling the resin substrate from the optically functional film laminate. The peeling is performed so that an angle α formed between a surface of the optically functional film laminate immediately before the peeling and a peeling direction of the resin substrate is smaller than an angle β formed between the surface of the optically functional film laminate immediately before the peeling and a peeling direction of the polarizing film.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film of the invention comprises an optical film and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the optical film, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a thickness (μm) standard deviation of 0.12 μm or less. The pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film makes it possible to reduce the problem of visible unevenness caused by a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.

The polarizing plate with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprises a polarizing film and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided directly on at least one surface of the polarizing film. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer comprises a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition containing a pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer, and an amount of an acid component in a total monomer component constituting the pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer is less than 8 wt %.
