A lubrication system is provided for a transmission mechanism supported on input and output shafts, and a chain drive rotatably connects these shafts. The chain and drive elements on the shafts are provided with a casing for isolating the mechanism, which collects an oil bath within the bottom of the transmission casing for lubricating a chain or other transmission member. An oil pump supplies oil from a reservoir to various areas to be specifically lubricated within the transmission. Feed means associated with the oil pump regulates the level of the transmission oil bath. The system may additionally contain an oil strainer, an external cooler, a relief valve to limit the pressure from the oil pump, or various combinations of such elements. The various points of lubrication within the casing, in turn, drain into the casing. Oil level within the transmission casing is regulated to keep the level low and at the same time to maintain sufficient oil for lubricating the chain.

An automatic transmission for motorcar of the type including a main transmission and an auxiliary transmission is disclosed. The auxiliary transmission has a plurality of speed changing stages and when it assumes a certain lower speed stage, any speed changing to higher speed stage is inhibited in the main transmission. The main transmission is provided with a solenoid valve which makes it possible to carry out speed changing to higher speed stage when it is turned on, while the auxiliary transmission is provided with a hydraulic control device which is communicated with a hydraulic servo via a hydraulic passage. The hydraulic servo is operatively associated with a speed reduction frictional engagement element which allows the auxiliary transmission to assume a certain lower speed stage. The solenoid valve is electrically connected to a pressure switch which is so constructed that it is turned off when the hydraulic servo is supplied with hydraulic oil and it is turned off when hydraulic pressure is released from the hydraulic servo. When the auxiliary transmission assumes a certain lower speed stage, the hydraulic servo is supplied with hydraulic oil and the solenoid valve is turned off. Thus, any speed changing to higher speed stage is inhibited in the main transmission.

A main regulator valve regulates hydraulic oil from an oil pressure source on the basis of a stator reaction force of the torque converter to generate a line pressure for operating engagement of a frictional engagement element. A line pressure switching section switches the line pressure to a low line pressure in a region in which a higher line pressure is not required in response to a driving state of a vehicle, and switches the line pressure to a high line pressure when a target value of an engagement hydraulic oil pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure. A lubricating regulator valve is provided in a lubricating oil passage connected from the main regulator valve to regulate a hydraulic pressure in the lubricating oil passage to a given pressure in response to a driving state of the vehicle. A torque converter regulator valve controls a pressure inside the torque converter. A lubricating shift valve switches between an oil passage for supplying hydraulic oil discharged from the torque converter into the lubricating oil passage and an oil passage for discharging lubricating oil discharged from the torque converter regulator valve.

The ultrasonic oscillator is provided approximately at the center of a component side of the resin substrate and generates and detects an ultrasonic wave. The resin substrate is made of, for example, a polycarbonate resin, i.e., the same material as a car bumper, and is shaped into a flat plate. The component side of the resin substrate is provided with a pad 11 adjacent to the ultrasonic oscillator. The pad is used for metal wiring based on wire bonding. The pad is made of a hard metal material excellent in conductivity and heat resistance such as stainless steel, and Al or Al alloy, for example. The resin substrate is formed as a single piece through insert molding by pouring a melted resin. Through this process, the pad is provided for the component side of the resin substrate.

An object of the present invention is to provide an ink compositions which, when used with an ink jet recording apparatus, can realize excellent ink ejection stability while maintaining safety and satisfactory penetration of ink. The ink composition according to the present invention comprises at least a colorant, a humectant, a glycol monoether as a penetrating agent, a 1,2-alkanediol, and water, the weight ratio of the glycol monoether to the 1,2-alkanediol being in the range of 1:5 to 5:1. According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an ink composition comprising at least a pigment, a dispersant for dispersing the pigment, a 1,2-alkanediol, and water as a main solvent, the content of the 1,2-alkanediol being 0.5 to 10% by weight based on the total amount of the ink composition.
