    摘要: The specification discloses a process for producing poly-branched polymer having relatively high molecular weight by forming a first set of branches by polymerizing monomers which are either protected against or are non-reactive to branching and grafting during polymerization, grafting that first set of branches to a core having a plurality of reactive sites capable of reacting with the reactive end units of said branches, either deprotecting or activating a plurality of monomeric units on each of said branches to create branch reactive sites, forming a second set of branches in the same manner as the first set of branches were formed, grafting the second set of branches to the first set of branches by reacting the reactive end units of the second set of branches with each said branch reactive site on said first set of branches and repeating the foregoing steps reiteratively to form and attach subsequent sets of branches to prior branch sets until a desired number of iterations has been effected.

    摘要: A starch hydrolysate composition is particularly suited for use as a sequesterer, i.e., it readily interacts noncovalently with other molecules to form stable inclusion complexes which are useful in a variety of applications. The starch molecules in the composition which act as sequesterers are in the form of single helical inclusion complexes with starch molecules having a D.P. of about 10 to 200 and a weight-average D.P. of about 10 to 50 as the host molecule holding one or more guest molecules within their internal cavities. These hydrolysates are prepared by first converting amylopectin molecules from the double helix form to the single helix form and then by cleaving chain segments from the molecules.

    摘要: The invention relates to a dendrimer composition in which an effective number of the terminal functionalities are provided with blocking agents, and at least one active substance species is occluded in the dendrimer. A blocking agent is a sufficiently sterically sized compound which readily enters into a chemical bond with a terminal group of a dendrimer but which can also be split off from the dendrimer or can be modified without affecting the chemical structure of the dendrimer and the occluded active substance. The blocking agent can also be provided with a protecting group. The time and duration over which an active substance is released can be controlled. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of such a composition and to a process for the controlled release of the active substance.
